Review: I haven’t had this long enough to know if it will hold up over time but at the moment, it’s a perfectly fine drill with a large-sized chuck that was powerful enough to drill a perfect grommet hole in a one-inch thick solid top desk. At the price, you could buy a couple in case it doesn’t last the 45 years my last drill given to me by my dad lasted (and in fact, still lasts but unfortunately had a 1/4” or 3/8” sized chuck (can’t remember at the moment and too tired to go look) which you won’t find a hole saw kit to fit on very easily. It doubles as an electric drill. Honestly, I was expecting a lot less. Decent battery, as much power as the 1970-something Black&Decker I was using. It’s made of some kind of heavy plastic-like material (probably not plastic – seems heavier and more solid – maybe some kind of composite).I wouldn’t pick this one up for job if you’re in the construction business. An all metal housing seems guaranteed to be more durable and long lasting. However, if you’re the once a year drill user and just need something to use around the house to attach curtain holders or even man up (sorry, sexist) to ripping through a desktop with a hole saw to make a shortcut path for your monitor cables and maybe a usb cable or two, this is an awfully good deal.It just won’t last as long as my dad’s seemingly iron-cast 1970’s drill (albeit one with a baby-sized chuck).. but, nothing last that long anymore. The 70’s was long long time ago in a very different plastic-free zone of tools, furniture and 8-track tapes that sadly, will probably never be again.So. It’s a decent option for 21st century home use.

Review: The trend in modern hand tools is the move to electronically commutated (brush-less) electric motors, which unfortunately seems to add about $30 to the cost of the tool. Since I still have a .25 inch AC powered drill, circa 1950, that I inherited from my dad that still works just fine with it’s brush type motor, I think I will save a few bucks and stick with the older type motor. The motor in the Worksite 1/2” cordless drill in the only part that is “conventional” in that it has virtually every other feature that a modern drill has including the key-less chuck, variable torque clutch, 2 gear ratios, variable speed, forward and reverse, spot light, battery status indicator, and interchangeable rechargeable lithium battery. The kit comes with a charger, canvas carry case, and a variety of driver bits. The drill is relatively heavy compared to others, but that usually suggests that it is very rugged. So far I am very impressed with this drill, particularly at the current price, but I fear that it might just be a “close-out” to be replaced with the more expensive brush-less model, that if it is as nice as this one, would still be a good value. When I looked at the price of a replacement battery, it is only $4 cheaper than this set, so I purchased a second set and got a replacement drill, charger, tool set and case for only $4. Lithium batteries for power tools drive me crazy in that every manufacture has their own proprietary design and none are interchangeable. If that manufacture should go out of business and not make provisions with a third party supplier, you might as well throw away the tool when the battery fails. Hopefully, someday the industry will establish a standard and/or someone with come up with a converter module to use batteries with different brand tools. This may be the reason for spending the considerable extra bucks to go with name brands that patents have run out and there are ample alternative batteries to fit their tools.

Review: I have one of these that I bought in May/2023, used it less than 10 times and it quit. Even after a year their customer service sent me a new tool, battery and charger. After checking both the tools, batteries, and chargers, it seems that my old battery was toast, the new charger doesn’t work so I am using the old charger with the new battery. The drill itseslf seems to be a good tool, but they need to look into the battery/charger end of their company. If you get one of these drills, don’t be shy about reaching out the them for help if you need it.

Review: What am I doing wrong? I was using long screws to secure the joints of a work bench. All 2 by 4 pieces. Every shot I took, the bit fell off from the chuck and the battery from the base. After repeatedly picking up the bit and battery from the ground in direct sun and 90 degrees heat, I gave up. I examined the chuck and locked the bit tight. Now I can’t get the bit out. Battery still drops easily. Gotta wrap the battery to the base with duct tape. The things is, even if I can keep everything together, it can’t get the screws into the wood. I have to hold the screw with one hand and point the drill with the other. How is it that everyone on YouTube videos can go one shot after another like there is an automatic screw feeding cartridge/magazine??
