Title: Dangerous
Review: This soldering iron has no temperature control and dramatically overheats making it practically unusable. I am expecting it to burst into flames or stop working any second.. The design is poor making it very difficult to lay down safely whilst it heats up. It comes with a small piece of poor quality sheet metal which you are expected to bend into shape to provide a stand. It is not sturdy enough to hold the soldering iron safely. As others have said I would not trust it in a coiled spring holder because the handle gets so hot. This item fits under the category “Buy cheap, Buy twiceâ€. Absolute rubbish and a definite safety hazard.

Review: Powerful enough for most electronics tasks. Useful light illuminates the work. The first one only lasted one session. Amazon replaced without quibble. It may be that a thermostat would improve this product’s reliability.

Title: Utter Garbage
Review: Has absolutely no self regulation. Gets ballistically hot and then burns itself to death. Mine died after the third usage. Only owned it for two months. Weller are supposedly a reputable brand but this just seems like generic Chinese tat as usual. Very disappointing.

Title: Great while it lasted
Review: I was fed up with having cheap soldering irons that packed up in less than a year so I figured splashing out on something of a higher quality would work out more economical in the long run. Nope, not this time.This soldering iron would in theory be great were it not for the fact it burns out so quickly – in less than a day or 2 the tip had gone south and become a complete mess. Having a narrower tip shaft means that common replacements are not easily available. It’s not like I left it on overnight either, given the price of electricity right now I’m very careful to switch things off if not in use. I wondered if something in the flux was causing such rapid erosion, but the same solder has worked perfectly fine with other irons.The plus side is it heats up quickly & is comfortable to hold. Sits nicely in its stand too so no nasty accidental burns from having an unstable 400 degrees of hot iron slipping around the bench. Can’t say the ring of LED’s bring much to the party – more of a gimmick but maybe useful if you’re doing repairs in total darkness.I did try another 60w Webber iron I got elsewhere and that shorted out within a day (tripping my house’s RCD in the process) – got a replacement from the retailer and that died within 3 days.All in all I’d say Webber irons are pretty much pants. I’ve gone back to buying cheapie irons knowing they’ll last less than a year, but at least they last longer than a week.
