Title: Impressive
Review: Router has boosted reception. In my case was 20Mbps on a phone and 80Mbps on router.Very simple to set up. Very basic. However it is sufficient for my home use. I like it.I don’t know how stable it is and for how long. Might update review if things go wrong 🙂

Title: After a bumpy start, it’s a fine router to use
Review: Already familiar with using a 4G Router at home, I needed to replace my old TP Link with a new machine as it was faltering with regards to phone calls. I settled on this Huawei since it’s dual-band, and it has phone call capabilities.Everything was going so well after the initial set up, but I couldn’t get the telephone side of things to work. It would always go straight to voicemail. After some to-and-fro-ing with tech support via email, it seems that this model/ firmware version of the router wasn’t compatible with my Smarty SIM when it comes to VoLTE calls.Tech support was very helpful and after much troubleshooting, they sent me a newer version of this router, and after setting it up, my Smarty SIM works flawlessly with it…not only the internet, but I can now make and receive calls with the replacement router now. Also, my HP All-in-One printer is happy too. Old router refused to communicate with it, even though it had assigned an IP address etc.WIth regards to my replacement router: It works very well. It’s never given me any issues. It’s easy to set up, and all my devices, wireless or wired, work no problem. I use this router in conjunction with an external antenna and has increased my 4G internet speeds exponentially.Great router – just make sure that if you’re using the telephony feature, that your Network Providers SIM works in it.

Title: A Powerful Huawei B535-333 Cat 7 4G LTE router with Dual band vs no router (iphone 8)
Review: Having ditched my sky fibre, which gave me a solid 66Mbps, I tested several cheap Cat 4 routers, including a TP-Link and Huawei Cat 4. I was able to position these near windows all over the house, but at best I hit 40mbps. But in generalm these speeds were no better than what i’d achieve on my old iphone 8.This told me that any small benefit I attained via superior positioning, i.e. high up the top of various windows (connected via cable) with both Huawei and TP-link Cat 4 routers, was then lost as it were transmitted via the built in WiFI antennas back to my room where I’d have my laptop and iPhone. So the at best 5Mbps to 10Mbps gained with a Cat 4 stuck high to the window in various rooms was lost without using the charging cable itself. In fact it was only thanks to my own very long microusb cable that this positioning was even possible, and this was lost when sent via the Wifi with only 2.4Ghz available.I found this refurbished Huawei B535 model for just £57, when as of today the B535-333 a slightly newer variant is actually £130 to buy new on Amazon as of 02/2023. Through watching comparisons vs the TP-Link Archer MR600 (Cat 6 also with aggregation) vs this Category 7 with carrier aggregation what I noticed was, the MR600 looks better IMO yet for 4G LTE the Huawei B535-333 out performs the TP-Link, which is £129 also as of writing. So I was a bit sad not to get the more attractive TP-Link but I did not want to compromise speed, not even just a little.Having already mapped out my 4G LTE towers and living 50m from the sea, I expected one side of my room to give the best results. With 2 Towers a couple of miles from me it made sense that windows facing the direction of the two only nearest towers should yield the highest results. But it did not work out that way and I ended up putting it in my room window, the opposite direction to any towers where there is only the sea.But then I tested it in the kitchen window, the direction that I knew two towers were located somewhere in the distance but not within visual range. Before I even turned on the external antenna I goot 55Mbps to 60Mbps straight away. But this 60mbps figure became my peak over time, with averages of 30-40mbps, sometimes exceeding 50mbps but rarely lower than 30mbps.Being dual band it transmits both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz at the same time as separate networks,. Look up the reasons for dual band, but in my 1 bedroom flat 5Ghz was the best option. I also toyed around with LTE Monitor, a free app where you can use band locking. Since my local towers only offer bands 3 and 20 anyway, and forcing it to use band 20 did not produce good results for me I stopped using it.Still I noticed that the Kitchen window, which I knew was in the same direction as the towers always had better SNIR values. But that alone doesnt give best results, and ideally this should use bothbands 20 + 3 to utilise carrier aggregation. My LTE – H monitor app always and only shows me on Band 3 for both Doownload and upload. Maybe it wasnt designed for carrier aggregation, as if its only using band 3 for DL then much more is possible if it were actually on both bands 3 and 20.Anyway for whatever reason, aside from the higher SNIR this kitchen window facing the approximate direction of the towers did not at first give anymore than 60mbps.But then I left it there for 24h and woke up one night, and after maybe 1000 speed tests over a week I could not beat about 60mbps. But when I woke up, for some reason it was getting speeds of over 77Mbps, and this is what I originally expected, knowing that not one but two towers were in this direction, as my other windows face towards the sea where there are no towers. So as the pic shows, i’ve got a peak of over 80Mbps now, and consistently get higher than 65-70mbps.I have not left it long enough to see if more is possible, and my EE sim is currently maxed to 100mbps anyway. I live several miles from the towers but as I drive right next to them, even on my phone my speedtests hit over 120mbps before quickly falling down to the capped 100Mbps.What this tells me is that if you live anywhere close to a 4G LTE tower (check Cellmapper) then using this router will likely give 250Mbps easily, peaking at anywhere from 300Mbps to 400Mbps (the Routers max).Additionally, through much research if this router gets you above 50Mbps then an XPOL 1 Antenn will likely take that to double that of 100Mbps, perhaps much more depending on the distance between you and the radio tower. The XPOL 1 is Omidirectional and cross polarised yet still requires a lot of testing to find the optimum spot, sometimes its the opposite of where you’d expect. The XPOL 1 Ive found is about £68 and I will test it soon but in every review and test i’ve seen, it can as much as double or triple yout existing speed like the 80Mbps i’ve hit with this Huawei B535-333 alone. And once tested, I may pay to remove my cap as this may yield 250Mbps-300Mbps even when you’re not so closed to these towers. If you’re in visual range from a 4G LTE tower then you can expect anywhere from 200Mbps up to the Max 400Mbps that this router is capable of. One thing people forget is the antenna within their iphones is at least as good as any £40 Cat 4 router. But I don’t think the best iphone is better than this router im reviewing. So to those somewhat far away from towers, if you can get 50Mbps then a real external Antenna like the Poyting XPOL 1 will likely double if not triple your speed. It depends on how much signal is achieved by the superior location of said antenna, and incase of the 4G/5G XPOL 2 directional antenna (outdoor) you can potentially turn 50Mbps into 300MBps + even if you are not very close to the towers. The XPOL2 is twice the price of the non directional/omni directional XPOL 1 but at least that can be stuck to your outside window without any DIY. Just remember both the B535-333 router and any antenna are highly sensitive to the location you fit them in. If you achieve a peak SNIR value and Mbps speed then this is an indication that quite a lot more is achievable. Whether its 2x, 3x or 5x what you can make with this router alone.Overall I knew this router would either provide me with double my iPhone 8 speeds, or as in the attached photo, 80Mbps is over 5x the typical good speeds i’d get from my iPhone 8 on its own. Which would be 10-15Mbps on a good day, with 20Mbps being the absolute best.At this price it is well worth the £57 I made and as a computer technician I know that a “refurbished” router performs as good as a brand new one. And it’s not like a car, dependent on mileage, it will perform as good as new for as long as a new version. Don’t bother with most of the cheap external antenna, BingFu make a couple of good ones. But there are also many that will achieve slower speeds than the external antenna incuded with this router. Its the XPOL 1 & 2 which will increase your speeds by as much as this router on its own – and when combined you can easily attain a 300% increase consistently, with up to +500% as a maximum when the optimum position is found. The higher the speed, the more increased stability. Once again check Cellmapper.net to see how high your gains could be and to find out which window or direction is likely to produce the best results both with this router, and with an XPOL 1 or 2 Antenna. If I had a screenshot to upload pre-installing this router it would read on average 10Mbps to 15Mbps

Title: Doing my nut in
Review: Works great on a campsite to connect phones but won’t work for my TVs. They get a WiFi connection but no Internet. It also blocks my TVs from connecting through hot-spot on my phone until I the router off then the phone hospital works again.

Title: Expired security certificate
Review: The router that was delivered has an expired security certificate.(Note that a similar B535-333 device works perfectly in our current environment)On accessing the router, my Security Programme (BitDefender) detects a “suspicious page” and blocks the access because of the expired certificate. The consequence is that I am unable to access the router (neither by WiFi, nor Ethernet) in order to change default password and such, and customise other settings. All these changes are a MUST requirement to run a secure environment. Therefore this router is not fit for purpose in a small business context. Returned the router after Amazon Tech Support was unable to help either.1* for the vendor, who should not have shipped such a defective device untested.

Title: EDIT – Good for FTTP too! Not quite plug and play, but astounding performance.
Review: I was initially baffled by the setup screen on my laptop as it was in a foreign language, and I could not find out how to change it to English. It took half an hour with Google translate to sort this problem and change the menu to English. Then I found that I had to enter the internet settings for my sim card (Lebara) manually, so not quite plug-and-play. Once I had selected the right band setting, I got a fantastic download speed, at least 50% better than the TP-Link TL-MR6400 that it replaced. Very pleased. I am scrapping my FTTC broadband as a result.EDIT – In January 2024, I had 150/30 MB/s FTTP Full Fibre broadband installed by ISP IDNet, who gave me free installation, but their gigabit router was going to be extra cost. So, I set up the Huawei B535-333 as a fibre broadband router, connecting the Openreach ONT to the router’s WAN port. The performance on IDNet’s FTTP is excellent, consistently at the headline speed and very reliable. I have kept the SIM card in the Huawei router, so I have the added advantage that if the Openreach system were to fail for any reason, I can easily revert to 4g broadband just by changing a setting on the router and topping up my SIM account.
