Title: Nifty and swift
Review: I look back to the day we bought our second PC with an amazing 6gb hard drive, and now 250 gb flash drives are economical, fast (read speed 600 mbs), portable (the size of a mini plastic cigarette lighter) and robust (flash is less prone to failure because there are no moving parts). The Tridenite Speedy+ arrived shortly after the RAID array to my Mac went on the blink and I needed to back up files on the fly from the Mac’s flash drive. I havenâ€™t heard of the name and although I hear IT engineers swear by one brand or another, I have a sense that the flash memory itself is pretty much a commodity with little to differentiate brands with the same specifications.Two factors that do make a difference with this neat item is the fact it is designed for USB 3.2 (the most recent and fastest transmission protocol) and USAP (think of a motorway with several lanes of data travelling to or from the drive rather than one). Compatible with Windows or Mac OS operating systems and compatible with earlier versions of USB 3 (although this may result in slightly slower speeds). There might be faster flash drives out there, but this model is at a level where its speed is such that I donâ€™t think any difference is tangible in terms of convenience, a bit like petrol heads discussing a car that does 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds rather than 3.5 seconds. Might make a difference to spies in these films where they are frantically trying to download classified data before jumping out of a window on a parachute, of course.I am sure that everyone knows the discipline but I have to be very rigorous in encrypting hard drive data. A recent story described how the employee of an outsource firm downloaded the names, birth dates, addresses, tax details, bank account names and numbers, state benefits of an entire Japanese town (465,177 people) from the council offices for his work … then went for a drink with friends, fell asleep in the street, waking up a while later to find their bag with the flash drive in it had been stolen. Fortunately, it had been encrypted but the employee still had to report it and I doubt they were greeted with smiles. Many encryption programmes can be hacked and I try to make sure that I keep items like this in a locked cabinet or on my person in a zipped inside pocket if I am on the move.Perfectly good for file storage and transfer, sturdy, fast, up to date with the latest transfer protocols and strikes me as being good value.

Title: This is a repeat purchase for a reason
Review: I bought the Tridenite 256GB Superb X model a year ago based on the speed claims that no other manufacturer was making for USB thumb drives. It cost a little more than the alternatives, but the reviews were good, so I took a chance.Firstly, the speed. It’s incredible. If anything, they’re underselling it.Tridenite claim “up to 1000MB/s Read, 800MB/s Write”I’m getting 935MB/s Write speeds in CrystalDiskMark (screenshot and log attached).I’ve also attached a screenshot of a file copy of a 6.33GB file to show “real world” write speeds. Nearly 850MB/s. It’s so fast, I had trouble taking a screenshot because it only took 7 seconds.Second, you will never, ever, find a better build quality for a USB thumb drive. It feels expensive. Not only is it metal instead of plastic, I’m pretty sure it’s not aluminium. It is SOLID. I’m guessing steel, and the casing is a good 1-2mm thick. You could drive your car over it and it would be fine.And it doesn’t come across well in their official marketing photos, but it is tiny. Size comparison photo next to a Yale key attached.This is a repeat purchase because a year my first purchase, no other USB thumb drives claim these speeds. Clearly, it IS possible. It’s just that Tridenite are the only ones making it happen.
