Title: Good value for money, performs well in the real world
Review: It seems you can have either fast or cheap USB 3 drives. Most cheap USB 3 drives don’t come close to the potential of USB 3 speeds – which seems to disappoint a lot of people – but I guess that’s because they’re built down to a price. The Samsung Bar seems to be the pick of the value drives (from other people’s reviews) but its weird shape puts me off. I would imagine it could be tricky to use in tightly spaced USB sockets.The Transcend JetFlash 790 is a strange product, the manufacturer doesn’t even mention read or write speeds in its product spec but it seems to be one of the faster cheap drives. I tested it with CrystalDiskMark and it performed quite well apart from write speeds for small files; which is a common issue.Anyway so much for synthetic benchmarks, what’s it like in real life? Well I created a 1GB folder of mixed files then copied it to the JetFlash and performance was pretty good. It wrote the files in 47 seconds at a steady speed of around 25MB/sec. That felt quite nippy.Physically the drive is fairly big but feels quite flimsy at only 9g. Transcend do provide a five year (limited) warranty… which is probably worthless. How many people would make a warranty claim for 8 quid if it meant sending a faulty drive containing their confidential data to the manufacturer? To be fair though Transcend do offer some downloadable software you can use to encrypt your data.I can’t make any judgement about the longevity of this product but from what I’ve seen so far I think it’s a bargain and would happily buy it again.

Review: I’ve been using Transcend flash drives for years because I prefer the push-button design, I’ve never had one fail on me, and they are priced well. The only reason I’ve replaced them is that as time goes on, greater capacity is needed.There has recently been a lot of publicity about some computers being supplied with malware installed that send comprehensive personal data to some third party. So I ordered this one to load with security programs, so I can run malware detectors before connecting new devices to my network or the internet.This one claims a 32GB capacity, and my computer measures it at over 30.5GB (see picture). Worth every penny – Recommended!

Review: I bought this based on its 128GB capacity and it’s claimed read and write speeds were a bonus. Unfortunately I’ve never seen speeds reach even close to what is claimed. It doesn’t seem to matter if in transfering lots of files or one large file, the speed fluctuates between 20mb/s and 25mbs/s. The saving grace of this memory stick is its price tag and large capacity, so I’m still happy enough with it, but if you want a fast memory stick then buy something else.

Review: If you test this drive on crystal diskmark it looks great with 110 read and 70 write. But in the real world it is absolutly awful.The speed is so erratic, It starts off fast for about 2 seconds then just constantly jumps down to 24 then down to zero then upto 5 etc etc but never goes above 25. So do not rely on synthetic benchmarks with this stick.,I didnt give it 1 star just because of the low price. I think you are better off with a usb 2.0 stick than this.
