Title: Improves coverage in external building – loft mounted
Review: I have an external unit on the outside of a chalet facing two other properties. The signal inside these was very week so I installed this unit in the loft of one, so the signal only had to travel through roof tiles then retransmit through the ceiling. It works a treat! One unit covers both (adjacent) properties. Setup was very easy using the management software on my phone. Status screen shows both units linked and online status. Would recommen for anyone with WiFi coverage problems without needing to rub cat5 around.

Title: bit of hassle getting existing mesh system to recognise it, but working ok now
Review: we bought this to extend our existing X55 three-node system to the shed at the end of the garden. hardwired ethernet, which the existing one couldn’t find. took a morning of switching on and off, re-connecting cables etc, to finally get it to work. Disappointing since the makers claim it is compatible with all the Deco models. Working ok at the moment, although it did lose ethernet for a couple of days last week and it switched itself to wifi, which is weak (long garden) – that is why we wanted ethernet! But suddenly “found” the ethernet connection again. something flaky in the system.

Title: Easy to setup
Review: Added to my DECO X50 4g router to extend the signal to the back garden and fill a few low signal areas. Setup is incredibly easy via the Android app (Apple app also available) and it takes about 5 minutes to find the device and then automatically copy across all your network configurations, there’s nothing techie to do. Once set up it allows seamless transitions for your devices between the main unit and this depending on where your connected device is as it will always give you the best Wi-Fi connection. You just have one network name to setup on your laptop/phone/tv’s and the DECO network decides which wi-fi unit gives the better connection and it switches without delay or glitches. The app is really useful as in addition to general network management it shows connection strength between the DECO units and also each connected device which helps with the initial positioning of the units. If you have thick brick internal walls where you place the units can make a big difference to the connection and signal strength.Update: Unfortunately the X50 4g router is really unreliable, I’ve now had 2 units both of which crash at least daily causing about 8 minute outages and often losing all of the SSID information meaning I have to reconfigure the whole network which isn’t good if you work from home and it goes down during a Teams call with clients. I’ll try the 5g router as it’s really good when it’s working but looks like others have had the same issue as me.

Title: Great upgrade from S4, recommended for the price
Review: I haven’t rated tech support as I have not used that. Good and stable mesh, replaced my old Deco S4 which was struggling to get decent speeds over wifi with 1GBPS download speed form my internet provider. With the new one I’m getting 900mbps and everything works perfectly. One downside, it is a bit bigger from S4 so it doesn’t fit my Ikea shelf.Big plus – you can now schedule restarts in the app (daily or weekly) to keep your router in perfect, “fresh” condition which really helps keeping the connection in tip top shape and refreshing selected channel to avoid congestion.Comparing to the others in mesh industry the price is really good.

Title: Hassle free home WiFi
Review: First, those of you who are proficient at organising home or other networks will find this solution frustrating. Everyone else will love it. I bought an X50-5G router which is in the loft for best GSM-LTE signal reception. It replaced an MR400 with the intention of taking advantage of 5G network speeds, and adding a couple of units such as IP-cameras. The Deco App is necessary for configuring the network and I have finally arrived at a configuration which has everything working, I have also added the kitchen TV to the WiFi and have the usual subscription services running. So first let me deal with the good parts. I plugged-in my EE SIM and eventually everything sprang into life. I configured the SSID and WiFi password and all the devices which used to connect to the MR400 were now happily connected to the X50-5G. Brilliant! I plugged the cable-connected Edimax camera into the router and that eventually came to life after some fiddling. No fault with the X50-5G router, the Edimax camera is old-technology and can’t handle current WiFi methods of operation (which is why it is now on a cable).I am quite satisfied with the result I have achieved. As a long-time user of TP-Link hardware the change in management philosophy was something of a culture shock. Documentation…. there doesn’t seem to be any except for the basic steps that will get your phone connected to the device(s) via the Deco App. I tried using a laptop in a manner similar to my previous attempts with the MR400, but eventually gave up and downloaded the Deco App.The X50-5G router is in the loft at one end of our 2-floor house, immediately above the lounge with bedrooms between. The kitchen is at the other end of the house on the ground floor. WiFi signal from the router drops off after a couple of walls have intervened so I bought the X50 extension unit which is the cause of this Amazon review. The extender is on the ground floor just outside the kitchen and connected with the router without too much grief. I had to Google how to do it….The Deco X50 extension device was very attractively priced on Amazon. The kitchen TV has a banging WiFi signal and I can remain connected to the 5G router network on my phone as I wander around the house. Everything is working as it should.
