Title: Absolutely Transformed My Wi-Fi.
Review: I bought the Tenda MW12-3 because the flat I live in has solid brick walls throughout and they absolutely kill the Wi-Fi signal from any router/hub I’ve had.Here’s a little background. I’m a Virgin Media customer and to say that the Wi-Fi from the Hub 3 is woefully inadequate is the understatement of all understatements. It’s so bad that I had to put it in modem mode and connect a separate router to get decent Wi-Fi in the same room as the Hub 3 sits. However, even the Wi-Fi signal from that Router could not maintain sufficient integrity through to the kitchen or bedrooms and when I upgraded my broadband to 500Mb the separate router just wasn’t capable of those speeds so, I had to abandon it and revert back to the Virgin Hub 3. This just wasn’t going to cut the mustard. Enter Tenda Mesh Wi-Fi!When browsing Mesh options, I opted on Tenda due to the cost and the overall favourable reviews they were receiving so, the price to quality ratio seemed too good to be true.Now that I’d settled on the brand, the next decision was which model should I choose. Given my experiences with the severe dampening effect the walls in my flat have on Wi-Fi signal, I was swithering between the MW6 and MW12. The MW12 seemed like overkill, given the coverage but, I was filled with dread at the thought of buying the MW6 and finding that these damned walls killed the signal from the Primary Node I’d have in the living room to the Secondary Nodes in the Bedroom and Kitchen. I therefore opted for the MW12 “Overkill” option.The MW12 was very easy to set up and I had all nodes set up in probably half an hour, most likely less than that. I would like to point out that many people say to put their Virgin Hub into Modem mode but, as I no longer had a separate Router for my Ethernet connected devices in the living room, I decided to simply try switching off the Wi-Fi on the Hub 3 and connecting the Primary Node to it to see if that would work first of all, and it did. It works perfectly. So, there’s no need to put your Virgin Hub in Modem mode!To say my Wi-Fi experience has been transformative after switching to the Tenda MW12 doesn’t even seem to do it justice. I would say though, and this is far from a negative to me, that the signal is so strong now that even when I’m in the bedroom, devices still seem to be connecting to the Primary Node in the living room and with a strong signal! So, perhaps for my flat and coverage needs, it was indeed overkill and the MW6 most likely would have been more than sufficient. I do not however regret the purchase as now I have a full, strong, reliable Wi-Fi signal in the second bedroom as well, which is my cinema room.I also like the fact that each node has 2 RJ45 outputs on them, which is great for connecting additional devices by ethernet to the nodes, which is sometimes a preferable option.If you are experiencing poor Wi-Fi signals, Tenda is the kit to get, in my honest opinion. Quality at a fantastic price and highly recommended. Just be sure to opt for the model that most appropriately suits your home, especially if you are on a budget.One final note; when I initially set up the system I was getting upwards of 300Mbps, usually close to and sometimes just over 400Mbps, when testing the Wi-Fi on my phone, whilst near the Primary node. This morning I noticed that this had dropped to around 100Mbps. This was not caused by the Tenda Wi-Fi, it was the pitiful Virgin Hub 3 at its best! I gave the Hub 3 a “quick” reboot and now I’m back to +300Mbps.

Title: Solved the WiFi issue
Review: I had been using the BT Wholehome discs (3) primarily to give a WiFi signal to a craft room in the garden for a few years. These were nothing short of the proverbial pain in the butt, with the first set replaced by Amazon under warranty after a couple of years. Now just out of warranty one of the second set gave up and with one disc having to be connected to the router the distance between the remaining two was simply too far to get any sort of a signal. To replace all three discs of the same type was Â£300 or Â£110 for just the one. This cost and the fact that they were never very good and the App was appalling meant a rethink. Fortunately I have a retired BT engineer as a neighbour and sought out his advice. He showed me his setup, the Tenda Nova 3 box system, saying â€˜Iâ€™ve had it for about four years, never a problemâ€™ and adding â€˜don’t touch BTâ€™. Not great recommendations from one of their own so to speak.So I took his advice, ordered them in the late afternoon and Amazon delivered the next morning at 0900. I had already downloaded the App and despite some negative reviews of the App I found no problems with it. Installing the three units was straight forward and the signal on all three was excellent, with only a marginal drop off in download speed in the garden cabin some twenty metres away and all this for less than Â£80. The wife says sheâ€™s never had such a good signal when using her WiFi dependant gear in her craft room.The App shows which devices are connected to which unit with the ability to change the names of the units and the connected devices which include security cameras and lighting as well as the usual tablets and phones (currently 27 in all) and has worked flawlessly since being installed for the last two weeks.Tenda do more expensive set ups and these may well suit you but their Â£80 three box system works well in our system.

Review: I was using bell pods and switched providers so decided to stop renting and just buy my own.Comparing to the bell pods, pods were easier and better. All were wireless so you donâ€™t need to â€œwasteâ€ one connected to the main router.I used to have 2 pods and it was enough to cover my 3 story house + backyard.With this one I will need a third for sure.I will say it is very worth the price so Iâ€™m happy with the purchase. Once I have 3 I think it will be perfect.Parent control are a great feature!

Review: Only reason I bought this was because a pal of mine suggested me a mesh system as opposed to a wifi repeater. Best suggestion every…the boxes work as they should. wifi is very strong . I live in a 3 bedroom 2nd floor apartment in Chicago( but it also provide signal on the 1st floor). It covers the whole apartment and more. I placed one box on the back yard porch on the window sill. It covers the back yard all the way to the garage entrance. This is exactly what I wanted it for. To have internet in the backyard. Totally recommend this product. Very easy to set up , stylish little white boxes. Thinking now on getting a camera for the backyard to take advantage of the coverage.

Review: Ich halte mich kurz. Nach mehreren Versuchen mit Repeater und Co nun endlich stabiles Internet auf 2 Etagen und 200 qm. Installation ist mehr als einfach, wer schonmal einen Stecker in die Steckdose gesteckt hat und eine APP am Handy installiert hat, kann das in drei Minuten selbst installieren.

Review: Bought this for my parents who live in a rural area with only 24mbps internet. The 3-pack of MW5s covers the 130sqm one-level house sufficiently and for the slow internet connection it is definitely fine.Installation took under 5 minutes, and was quite easy.Everything is controlled via the Tenda App, which has limited functionality, but again, it’s enough for simple use. As an IT person, I wouldn’t buy it for myself, but if you are after simple almost plug-and-play mesh this is fine.
