Title: Works a treat.
Review: Sonoff is a long established name in smart technology so it came as no surprise this works as well as it does.I already had the eWelink app on my phone and linked to my Alexa app so there was no need to do any downloads, it’s a decent reliable app I’ve used for several years no with no issues whatsoever.From plugging into an outlet and launching the app to having it set up in Alexa too a little under a minute, as soon as the app launched it saw the new plug ready to install and from there it was just a few clicks until it was done.Once set up it works seamlessly with both the Alexa app and eWelink, although if you are using Alexa the chance are you won’t be using the eWelink app too much beyond monitoring energy use if you wish to.I’ve set up hundreds of smart devices in recent years, they get easier to do with each passing month but a start to finish set up in under a minute surprised even me.Not the cheapest smart plugs around by nay means, but if you want a good well known name and software that does all it should with littl to no intervention from you it’s perhaps worth the extra to you.

Title: Great smart plug with good features
Review: The last time I setup a smart plug, it was a simple on and off feature with nothing more. Technology has come a long way for the better, to show power usage, to cut off power when there is a current overload and then being able to track usage over 6 months, wow.This is great for setting up for many devices in your home, even if you don’t want switch control, simply so that you can individually monitor device power usage.You have to use the app that they have suggested, which is eWelink which requires registration, but it’s worth setting this up as it remembers your settings etcIf you have trouble setting up, check that you have connected via the 2.4g wireless connection on your router and not 5g. This is a known pain but you only need to do this once and can revert back to 5g once it’s up and running.

Title: Works well with Alexa, but steep RRP
Review: I’ve been using smart plugs for years now and swear by them, with this being yet another solid option. Once you download the app it connects easily and linked to my Alexa, meaning once named it slotted in easily with the rest of my smart devices and routines.The plug itself is responsive and has (so far) always turned on and off when requested. Perhaps the one thing I like most other smart plugs I’ve tried is that this has a nice circular form, making it great for installing on narrow sockets as it doesn’t intrude onto other slots spaces (as many do).The compact factor alone means it gets a recommendation from me (despite its lack of Apple Home support which is a significant disadvantage were it not for Alexa), however, you seem to pay a steep price for it as the RRP is higher than other versions I’ve tried which technically (in terms of performance) work just as well for significantly less.

Title: Easy to setup remote switch
Review: This is an easy to setup remote switch by the SONOFF Store.The 3 pin UK switch comes boxed with instructions directing you with easy steps on how to setup the plug.When I set the plug up it literally took 2 minutes to finish and complete.There is an app on IOS and Android that you download called “eWeLink” for setting up the device. One of the first things it asks you to do is to either login or create an account which really bothers me as this is a local device on my network although thankfully there was an option to bypass this so I could just get on with setting it up.After entering my WIFI details to connect the device to my network via 2.4Ghz I was ready to go and could access the switch through the app via my home network either locally at home or at a remote location to switch the device on which was great.Overall this was a problem free install that works well and makes switching on any electrical device connected to it a cinch.

Review: I’ve used these before and as such had the app already installed to have this setup onto. It only took me a few minutes to have this detected and setup.The app provides a good number of features based on the ability of the smart plug providing these back to the app, such as timer control and power usage.Top marks on this and can’t fault it.

Title: Buzzing sound
Review: This plug would be perfect, but it emits the most annoying buzzing sound when on, and even when not on, it just does a little frequency sound the whole time. The app is surprisingly good, but it is also easy to set up in Home Assistant or HomeBridge. The energy monitoring is great, and updates every secnond basically on the app. There is also a feature in the app where you can set the maximum voltage and current, which seems, well, advanced. I worried what changing it would do personally.The plug itself is quit bg, and whilst you can turn the wifi light on it off, you cannot turn the other light on or off, it is just constantly on. Which is mind numbingly annoying.But overall, its fine, the frequency sound it makes means I won’t personally be using it in my life, but if you’re old or slightly deaf, or just dont care, go for it. It’s a nice plug.

Title: Easy to use
Review: While you do need to download their app to link it to Alexa, it can be done with a guest account.Really easy to get set up, and their app instantly shows power usage. Which is what I want to use it for. I have some other smart plugs that were incredibly arduous to set up, this was a joy in comparison.Also, one of the fastest things to sync with Alexa. First try, and it’s in their list of plugs, which makes everything much simpler.The plug itself is well laid out with the QR code at the top, button to the left and LED indicators at the front. Again, compared to my other smart plugs, much smarter with their layout. I also like the round shape over the square ones I have, it’s easier to remove plugs next to it if it’s in a power strip, for example.
