Title: Drive Failed – Customer Service Incapable of replacing
Review: I unfortunately am one of the individuals who’s drive failed (due to a firmware related issue). I purchased a 2TB 980 pro and it last for about 1 year and then failed. It had the commonly related issue of the media becoming read only as well as my PC giving a critical alert that the drive was about to fail.The issue was customer service – which was incapable of handing a fairly easy issue and ended up in the fact I was not able to have the product replaced.I purchased this through Amazon, but I didn’t realise it was from a supplier based in the US. This is where the issue occurred. I have found Amazon pretty good when it comes to returns, so it’s not been a concern, but as this replacement was through the warranty I had to contact Samsung.Samsung Europe told me the drive had an American serial number and had to be processed by US Samsung support. US Samsung support was slow to respond and told me they may be able to replace or fix it, but I had to pay for sending and return. Unfortunately this from UK to US came to about $170 (this was the lowest cost I could find) in total and regarding this cost was not worth sending as I may as well just purchase a new drive.It was frustrating how disconnected US and Europe support was and for a device that has a worldwide warranty.It’s very unlikely I will ever purchase another Samsung PC component and purchasing any component on Amazon I will check where the supplier is based.

Title: Very nice drive.
Review: I needed a bigger drive which a 2tb would do just fine. i went for a Samsung as they make fine drives. I had a Samsung 1tb 970 which I have had for 4 years it has been perfect. I do not have the Pcie 4 so I cannot get the full protentional of the drive. It was very easy to clone the drive through Macrium Reflect. The Operating System found it straight away. It works just fine in my system.

Review: TL;DR I give this a 9/10 with only one point off because it’s more expensive than other options, although it’s also faster than said options.I chose this drive because I wanted excellent performance and capacity without any compromises. This was my first M.2 NVMe drive and boy am I impressed! Installation was easy with the only issues being related to the mount and heat sink on the motherboard. Once installation was done, installation of the OS onto this drive was easy and identical to the process to installation for a SATA drive.I primarily use this in a PC I’ve built for gaming using an Intel 13700K and a GeForce GTX 1080Ti. Loading times of games is absolutely impressive. Playing Diablo 4 the loading time is about 1 second to get from the game menu to moving around in-game. Not all games load instantly though, but every game certainly loads much faster than when played off of a SATA drive. Forza Horizon 5 still takes about 5-10 seconds which is only about half as long as it took to load on my previous SATA3 SSD.The Samsung Magician software that manages these drives and updates firmware is simple and unobtrusive. I do recommend installing the software as it not only ensures you get timely firmware updates, but also that your drive is optimized properly for your OS. The app also allows you to benchmark your drive to ensure you’re getting the speed that you paid for.Pricing is always the challenge with Samsung NVMe drives. Other drives may be slightly slower, but cost significantly less. My recommendation is that if you’re looking for the top speed and price is no option, take a look at this drive. If you are more price sensitive but can wait for a sale, watch for a bigger discount. I purchased this on Black Friday or Cyber Monday and saved $100. Regardless, you can’t get a better drive!This drive gets a 9/10 with only one point off for the high price point. If it was cheaper I’d have bought two – one for a backup!
