Title: Limited use.
Review: In general I like Ryobi tools, they don’t pretend to be for professionals and my experience with them is generally good. However I found the 4v soldering iron to be of limited use to the average diyer. The bugbear of soldering irons is the cable, it’s always in the way and it’s always so stiff! So when I saw a cordless iron I thought “got to have one” , I thought that it wouldn’t matter if it only ran for minutes rather than hours on a battery because most of my soldering jobs only took minutes. So I stuffed in the battery and took off the safety cover and pressed the button. The iron heated up quickly and I was feeling positive about my purchase, I picked up the supplied bit of solder and touched the and it did what it was supposed to do, then I joined some 0.5mil flex together and I was thinking “nice”. I then remembered a little job waiting for me outside and so, outside I went, I prepped my fairy light cables for soldering and touched my soldering iron to them and waited and waited and waited and well you get the picture. The iron refused to get hot enough in the chilly breeze to melt the solder let alone allow it to flow through the cable joint. I think if you want a liberating cable free soldering experience whilst working indoors then this could be an option but for my kind of jobs around the outside of the house particularly during the winter I think it’s a failure 😞

Title: Disappointing Performance
Review: Really disappointed with this soldering iron. I’m usually impressed with Ryobi products and have built up a fair collection of their one plus range over the years. Got this in favour of the 18v one due to being completely cordless.Out of the box it feels robust and fits in the hand well. The light is a nice touch too. Charging the battery means removing it from the tool and plugging into USB C. Feel like the charging port could have been made accessible from the bottom to avoid dismantling each time it’s been used.The main issue the device has is it can’t generate enough heat to do very much work. Sat in a cold room it struggled to melt existing solder I was removing of some led strip. The very fine tip being the only part which vaguely managed. Ended up getting out my original mains one to finish the job.Had another go in a warmer space and this time the soldering iron worked a bit better. Managed to tin and solder around 10 wires to pads before the battery warning light came on. Again had to get out the mains one to finish the job.If all you want to do is tin and solder a few connections in and awkward to reach space it will work (if not too cold), but really can’t recommend this.

Review: Je fais beaucoup de travail électronique sur des voitures. Le fer à souder sur batterie est très utile dans mon domaine. Celui-ci fonctionne très bien pour des applications qui demandent peu de chauffe. Il est plus destiné à l’électronique qu’à l’électricité automobile. Par exemple, si vous avez deux fils à souder entre eux d’un diamètre de 1,5 mm, la pointe fournie est un peu petite. Il n’y a pas d’autre pointe fournie, ce qui limite le travail sur du câble ou les opérations un peu grossières. Il est plus destiné à un travail précis, comme la soudure de surface type CMS sur carte électronique.En tout cas, il fonctionne super bien. Le coup de la batterie rechargeable en USB, c’est top. En plus, elle ne coûte pas cher et peut être branchée sur une powerbank pour la recharger.J’ai un autre fer du même type mais beaucoup plus gros de chez Milwaukee. Les deux sont complémentaires. Super matos pour pas cher.Merci d’avoir lu.

Review: Petit fer à souder sans fil de très bonne qualité et performance !C’est du sans fil, et pour de petites soudures, c’est très agréable d’avoir autant de maniabilité et de facilité de geste.Par contre je trouve la base du manche assez déconcertante au premier abord, en comparaison avec un fer à souder traditionnelle.Mais on s’habitue assez rapidement, et cela devient beaucoup plus simple et surtout sécurisant.Batterie déporté pour la recharge, j’aurais préféré, une batterie intégrée, avec la recharge idem.Excellent rapport qualité-prix prestations ! Top matos pro ou particulier !

Review:  Si je connaissait très bien la marque RYOBI pour ses accessoires électroportatifs sur batterie, je dois admettre que je découvre la gamme USB LITHIUM avec ce petit fer à souder.Le produit est plutôt bien finit, il est ergonomique et semble très robuste. On a vraiment le sentiment qu’il va résister aux chocs, ce qui est plutôt appréciable pour un produit qui va séjourner dans une caisse à outils.C’est un fer de terrain. Il est livré sans fioritures avec uniquement l’appareil.Le bouchon est en plastique mais il est renforcé par un guide métallique donc peu de risque de le faire fondre.On a une LED en bout qui permet d’éclairer la zone de travail. Alors ça ne remplacera pas un bon éclairage mais je dois dire que pour aller faire quelques soudures sous le tableau de bord de la voiture, ça aide.Ce qui est vraiment astucieux, ce sont les petites batteries. Elles se rechargent par USB-C ce qui est vraiment pratique pour une utilisation domestique. On a pas besoin d’un énième chargeur à ne pas égarer. Pour ceux qui sont équipés et qui en font un usage professionnel, la marque propose des stations de charge ce qui peut s’avérer un peu plus pratique.En ce qui concerne le fer, c’est encore une fois sans fioritures. On allume, ça chauffe, on éteins, ça ne chauffe plus. Pas de réglages de la température. Pour les vrais soudeurs, cela peut manquer, pour du terrain, je dirais que ça fait largement le travail. On a un chauffe qui se fait en moins de 2 minutes pour une température de 460°C. C’est donc rapide et la soudure fond immédiatement. Ce qui est assez remarquable pour une batterie de 4 Volts.Côté autonomie, ce n’est pas fou fou car on a moins d’une heure d’utilisation. Mais bon pour l’usage, cela me parait largement suffisant.Autrement, on peut acheter des batteries complémentaires de plus grosse capacité et surtout des pannes de rechange ce qui en fait un produit avec une excellente durée de vie.En conclusion, c’est un appareil de terrain qui rend un très bon service et qui se recharge avec le câble de son smartphone. Au top !👍
