Painting textured surfaces made easier

Painting masonry surfaces can be tricky and choosing the right roller is critical to getting the best result and avoiding time-consuming extra work. This trade quality 9″ (225mm) masonry paint roller features a layer of padding between the fabric and the core that enables it to cope with the demands of masonry surfaces, especially punishing substrates such as heavily textured renders, stucco (exterior cement plaster) and pebbledash that can rip other rollers apart.

Acting like a suspension system, the padding absorbs the peaks and troughs of the surface profile, keeping the roller constantly in contact with the substrate. The 18mm (0.75″) long pile loads up plenty of paint – essential for efficiency when painting masonry so you’re reloading less often – and is effective at getting into surface textures for rapid application without missing areas.

The roller comes complete with a frame with a rugged, ergonomically shaped handle featuring screw fitting for an extension pole.

Title: Work Smart
Review: This roller appears to be truly wonderful… I used it with Sandtex Smooth Masonry Paint on an old deeply stippled outside wall and found the application really easy and effective. However you do really need to work smart and do all your cutting in with a brush first as you will not be wanting to clean this roller any more often than necessary. I covered 5m square in less than 15 minutes but spent the next 20 cleaning the roller but if you work smart you won’t go far wrong with this roller.

Review: Despite the description I didn’t find the roller capable of anything too rough. Maybe it is capable of straight brickwork, but I purchased to paint a quite rough render and had to revert to a brush. However, the roller is good and easy to clean so I guess it has to have five stars.JC
