Review: This is a terrific little iron for traveling or crafting. It looks super sharp with the gleaming silver trim and glossy case. It has one of the best pointed tips I’ve ever seen on an iron – large or small. Just what you need to tackle those hard to access corners! It heats up quickly, steams well, and weighs very little. It is stable when upright and has a comfortable, well sized grip. A small cup is included for filling the water reservoir. The power cord is conveniently long for when outlets are too far from your work space. Someday – someone will create a cord free iron, but until then – this is a good bet when a full sized iron is more than you need.

Review: I’ve tried a few of the small craft marketed irons but they never get hot enough for cotton or heavy fabrics, which is mostly what I work with. The advantage I found with this Piomatic travel iron is it gets hot enough for heavy duty fabrics and then to protect more delicate fabrics I can use a linen kitchen towel as a buffer, since the iron doesn’t have a way to lower the temperature. I can protect delicate fabrics from high heat but I can’t make a low heat iron get hot enough to effectively iron cotton fabrics.I used my infrared thermometer gun to verify the maximum heat of this iron. The highest reading I can measure is up to 320, which is how hot this iron is advertised to go. I was able to verify the temperature just before the read out changed to a reading of ‘High’, so the iron did get up to 320 degrees.The ability to change voltage may come in handy because I can lend to family members when they travel abroad. Glad I discovered this iron marketed towards travel since it can reach higher temps instead of wasting my time with those marketed to crafts which are pretty weak.
