Although you can drill a pilot hole for precision if you need, they can be directly used on metal surfaces without pre-drilling and have broad applications in various fields, including DIY. I have similar screws in double glazing, and I found that it is in that sort of application where their speed of use really comes into play. You can literally just use the screw tip to dent the metal if it goes into something thin and soft like aluminium, and then power them home with your drill driver. I have also used them for plastics, where they work equally well. ✔️
