Title: Great performance blender, ideal for smoothies.
Review: The Philips 500 Series Blender performs really well when it comes to making smoothies. The 800W motor is not too loud and does a great job of blending all the items I have thrown at it, including ice cubes and frozen fruit.Included in the kit is the main blender base unit, a large mixing tumbler, a smaller sized cup, a screw on lid, and another lid with a drinking spout. The blender itself is pretty heavy but thanks to the 4 suction feet on the underside, it stays perfectly in place whilst being used – those suction feet are really effective.To operate the blender it as simple as filling the tumbler with your choice of fruit and juice, screwing on the lid with the blades and then simply pushing it in a downward direction on the base. For a quick blast, you can push down and hold the tumbler in place, but for longer blending time you have the option of twisting the tumbler and locking it in place. Lifting the tumbler off the base turns the unit off.The results are pretty good to be fair. We’ve tried making several different smoothies and all have come out really well and perfectly blended and smooth in texture. Philips is a trusted brand which should help provide confidence that this unit is made to last – it’s also covered by a two year warranty.Overall its a really nice product which performs perfectly.

Title: OK but not great.
Review: This blender is OK, but not great. Seems to be an older, basic model. The brushed stainless outer case looks quite old fashioned and picks up grease marks easily. 800W motor is fairly low power compared to many. The mode of operation is fiddly (push down and twist to start, twist back to stop) a simple dial on the front is a much better option. It is incredibly heavy, the rubber suction feet hold it in place well but it also sticks to the shelf in the cupboard – annoyingly! I’m not quite sure what this is trying to be, it’s not a proper blender with a jug that you can make hot soup etc in and it’s a bit cumbersome as a smoothie maker. Not one thing nor the other!

Title: Good smoothie & protein shake maker
Review: My husband and I drink a lot of smoothies and protein shakes, often shop-bought for convenience, as itâ€™s a hassle to drag the big blender out of the cupboard. This Philips blender is perfect for us as it has a much smaller footprint and looks sleek on the kitchen counter.The blender is simplistic, with no buttons or knobs, giving it a streamlined look. To operate, the cup simply locks into place to activate the blending. This takes some getting used to, but can be controlled by the mains power switch if an on/off switch function is preferred.The blender is still noisy, like any other blender, but doesnâ€™t need much run time to achieve results, so isnâ€™t an issue. In fact, the blender shouldnâ€™t be ran for more than a minute at a time anyway (which is plenty).The blender makes it easy to blend protein shakes well – no more clumps of powder, and itâ€™s easy to add frozen fruit or ice. Fruit smoothies are a breeze, and milkshakes with ice cream added come out thick and creamy.I was sceptical of the 800w motor being able to power through such as ice, but it does so with ease.This blender is quite niche – itâ€™s not going to everything that a larger blender can, but is great for drinks/desserts.Itâ€™s great for our household, and Iâ€™d be happy to recommend it.
