Title: The OX Mini Professional Hacksaw is comfortable to use but the blades wobble.
Review: I have to say that when I first got this hacksaw I was quite pleased with it. However, after having it and using it a few times I am not so happy. It feels nice to hold and use because the rubber coated handle is just at the right comfortable angle.I thought, at first, that the problems I was having were because of the blade that came with it so I bought a pack of their own make OX blades for metal. The problem persisted, that is the blades twist from side to side in the holders making it quite hard to get a good start because the blade keeps wobbling as you try to cut.Putting extra tension on the blade does help a bit and it is okay for cutting wood or plastics but you can’t really tension it enough for metal. The feeling is that the frame won’t take as much as it requires to counter the wobbling blade. Most times I want to cut some metal I resort to my 40 year old Stanley bent wire frame junior hacksaw because it holds the blades better.Having looked closely at the blade stocks it looks as if the slots are a bit too wide, giving room for the blade to twist side to side.My other small gripe is that the blade stocks are made from hexagonal steel so unlike the normal square ones, you cant set the blade at 90 degrees. So, in conclusion, the OX Mini Professional Hacksaw is comfortable to use but the blades wobble.

Title: Good little piece of kit.
Review: I needed a small hacksaw to mend a bracelet and this certainly did the job. It was slightly larger than I would have liked but it didn’t matter in the end. The grip on it is very comfortable and it doesn’t slip – really really good. I am very happy.

Title: Better design than most but spoiled by tensioner design.
Review: I was looking for a more stable design than the traditional bent wire design, and this looked more rigid and did not disappoint in that respect. However: being made of aluminium alloy rather than steel means it has to be handled with care, and the extra rigidity means you can’t just spring blades in and out, and a good tensioner is needed. In the pictures, it looks like the tensioner is a sturdy affair, but what you can’t see, is that the hole it travels through is not the usual straight through in one size passage, but is hexagonal at one end and smaller diameter round at the other. This gives much less actual tensioning travel than it looks, so you may find that you cannot get blades tight enough to cut straight, and, added to that, the bore is not wide enough to take some blade ends (like rod saw blade eyes, for example–you have to grind these to fit through the hole). This handicap was completely unnecessary, as a single hole all the way through at the same diameter works perfectly well, and gives plenty of travel to tighten blades enough to run true. A silly over fussy design has spoiled the whole thing. :/I have more tools than most people, and managed to file the flats out of the hexagonal hole, and remove the ledge that stops the adjuster travelling right through. This is awkward to do because the handle gets in the way, but worth doing to get the full range of adjustment that the pictures make you think is there in the first place! So I’d advise the designers to, next time, make it of steel, and stick to the normal tried and tested blade holders that are found on full sized hacksaws, and make them capable of taking the full range (Sadly very limited for junior saws as it is!) of blades and rod-saws.In the picture, you can see that the rod saw can now fit through the adjuster hole to be properly tensioned. I’ve also included a picture of how you can sew an old bicycle inner tube section to hold your blades and keep them with the saw.
