Title: Great Phone And Large Battery For The Price
Review: I bought this phone to replace my Nexus 6 which I used primarily as a twat nav. So the reason for choosing the moto g6 play was nothing more than the large 4000 mAh battery and not having to plug it into a power source while using this phone as my new daily twat nav. The N6 battery was finished mainly because it was plugged in all day and the OS started to show its age.Now I’ve had Motorola phones since the 8500 brick and my N6 was manufactured by Motorola and I had the first ever moto g phone as well, so this company I trust. This phone lasts me through an 8 hour shift with time to spare, on medium brightness and that is screen on the whole time used as a twat nav, so if your using this normally you should get a day / day and a half depending on your screen brightness. To say I’m impressed by this phone is an understatement for what I use it for. It’s not to large to hold and surprisingly light and slim, the screen is crystal clear and bright enough to see in the sun, the fingerprint scanner is fast enough, the OS zips along with no stutter or lag that I’ve noticed, the front firing speaker is loud enough I can hear directions over the trucks engine noise, Youtube plays great, the GPS fix is quick and holds your position, call quality is excellent, cameras are great, speedy when taking a pic and when you plug it into charge, this is the fastest I’ve ever seen a phone juiced up also the build quality is what you’d expect from a company like Motorola. This phones a tool to me, I don’t play games or stuff like that I just wanted a reasonably inexpensive phone with good battery life from a known manufacturer rather than some obscure brand and Motorola has long standing experience in manufacturing phones try this, I very much doubt you’ll feel disappointedDisclaimer, “I paid for this myself”, either during a lightning deal or full price.

Title: Why Pay More?
Review: My last three mobile phones have been high-end smartphones on contract; my last one being an HTC which, if I had bought it outright, was priced at £699. I came to realise that, whilst it is nice to have all the bells and whistles, the price of contracts and phones is getting way too expensive. I decided to scale back. Except that, as it turns out, I didn’t! The Moto G6 Play that I settled on as a replacement for my old HTC is fantastic and in my opinion is every bit the equal of my old phone and for a fraction of the price. At this point it is fair to point out that I am in my early 50’s so I don’t spend my time playing games on the phone or on untld selfies for social media but I do use it for emails, texting, calls, internet browsing and a bit of youtube. The screen is perfectly adequate. It might not be the full 1080p HD but I can’t say that the lower res screen is obviously sub-par, it really isn’t. The G6 Play does everything my old phone (well, 2 years old anyway) did and, if it has any deficiencies, I haven’t noticed them yet.The battery life is great. I get two a full two days from one charge and I could probably get an extra half day if I wanted to – I recharge at the end of day two when it has around 20% battery left. I don’t worry about the plastic back to the G6Play, I always put my phones into a sturdy case and I sourced a good well designed black Spigen case for this one. I haven’t used the camera much but the shots I have taken during the day are of good quality. I only gave the phone three stars on durability because I haven’t had it long enough to give any more but I reckon it will be fine. This is a great budget phone. I will save nearly £600 over two years by buying it over a top end smartphone on contract, that was enough to seal the deal for me and I get no noticeable drop in the quality of handset.

Title: A great ‘budget’ phone with one dreadful problem
Review: Let’s get to the nub of it. This phone – the G6 Play model – has a problem ‘pre-installed’ by Motorola/Lenovo. And, to date, they have not resolved it.A lot of unhappy people, myself among them, have found that this phone’s audio goes dead at random. The most serious result is that incoming calls do not generate a ring tone and if, like me, you don’t like to have ‘vibrate’ switched on, the first indication is ‘missed call’ in your call log.At first, one’s reaction is that it is one’s own fault. Didn’t hear it/phone in one room, self in another …Then you find that you have several Wazzapp voice messages which, on playback, are silent. These I blamed on finger trouble by the sender.I had a fancy to hear a track, dialed up YouTube – video played – no audio. Finally you twig that something’s going wrong. There were times when, on booting up, the ‘Hello Moto’ greeting failed to play. Switching off and restarting usually solved this but only for a while. At some point, with no indication, audio would go dead. You will now miss calls, and other audio will not play. The Moto/Lenovo forum is chock full of people complaining about this problem. The unfortunate Moto agent given the job of fielding all these complaints comes up with a large variety of ‘things to try’, some of them complicated and arcane. People with phones that genuinly have this problem inevitably have no success and the agent eventually comes up with the magic words, ‘return for refund’. Of course, owners of this phone with this problem should not have to act as unpaid fault correction researchers on behalf of Moto. This is why I was glad to have bought mine from Amz.In my case, Amazon agreed without demur to a ‘return for refund’, for which I am grateful. It was a Marketplace purchase.Other than this bug, it’s a great phone. Nice big screen, good camera. No need, in my opinion, to pay the £50 extra for the top model. This phone worked OK for several weeks. It suits me perfectly. That is why, bizarre as it may seem, I have ordered a new one from Amz. If it doesn’t have this audio problem, I’ll keep it. If it does, it’s going back. And I will continue doing this till either I get a good one or something else comes along that suits me as well but without this gremlin. We shall seeAnd what we see is that the later G6 did not have this problem. M/ola finally fixed it. Not before time and lots of hacked-off people. Gt phone. Love it.However, here’s a thing. The EU, to which GB no longer bends the knee, has made noises about phone batteries being user replaceable. They used to be but for 2-3 years now replacing the battery in one of phones now on the mkt requires, in the very first intance, a hot air gun which can provide the EXACT correct temperature to melt the glue holding the case together – No more [burns out your phone] No less [can’t get the thing apart.]Having got the thing apart, there follows an intricate and painstaking process of delicate fiddling with the electronics. Take a look at a YT vid someone replacing a batery in a Moto G6. You don’t want to go there unless it’s your schtick. So – good on the EU. Let’s have user replaceable batteries again.
