Title: Better than I thought it would be
Review: I use soldering irons every day at work.They are the old school Antex 25w, never thought I would need anything else but needed something more portable for a few jobs and I already have plenty of Makita tools and batteries.This fits the batteries really well and the iron heats up quickly, adjustable temperatures are useful as I use both leaded and unleaded solder depending on the job, you definitely need to increase the temperature if you switch to unleaded.The supplied bit is fine for narrow surface mount IC work, I ordered a more traditional hoof bit off Amazon for general work,I have found an old 19v laptop supply (3.5A) works well with the unit if mains power is available.Negatives – if you do use a mains adaptor you still need a battery connected to the unit as it is very unstable as a work bench unit without it.The iron holder is just about ok for portable useBut – for the money I really like it –

Title: Useful and works OK but user safety needs addressing
Review: The soldering station is reasonably well made and works, so all OK there but there are a couple of flaws.1) The iron rest is rubbish – just a cheap bit of spring wire giving no protection at all from the hot end. A safety issue I believe. 2) The supplied mains psu has a fixed US-style plug and no UK adaptor is included. ( I thought that was illegal now for kit sold in the UK. )It is rather mean not to include a spare alternative shaped bit for the iron. The bit is a long T12 type, not one of the more common and much cheaper short ones. The shape supplied is a bit thin so doesn’t hold heat well. OK for small pcbs but not man enough for anything heavier. Really a heavier bit would be better for general purpose, so you may have to spend extra if you need that.

Si tratta di una stazione saldante, portatile, che utilizza le batterie standard della Makita da 18V con temperatura di esercizio controllata caratterizzata da una velocita’di riscaldamento anche piu’ rapida di una a filo. Si possono montare punte di diverso profilo, anche se quella fornita con la punta “a taglio” e’ la piu’ pratica. Un ottimo prodotto, che dovrebbe costare un po’ meno per essere al top.
