DDF083Z 18V Li-ion LXT Brushless Drill Driver – No batteries included Ultra-compact length of 124mm for those hard to reach spaces

The brushless motor eliminates carbon brushes enabling the motor to run cooler and more efficiently for longer life and generates less heat build-up. The motor is electronically controlled to optimise battery energy use for up to 50 per cent longer run time per charge.

The Drill Driver has 2 mechanical gears, high speed mode for speedy drilling in light duty applications and low speed mode for heavy duty applications requiring high torque.

The DDF083Z has 20 clutch settings and drill mode for added fastening control, electric brake, forward / reverse rotation and LED job light to illuminate the work area.

Title: Worth the investment for sure for an 18v screwdriver
Review: There are times when an impact driver is to noisy and a drill is just to big. This fits the bill on both counts. Quiet & not cumbersome, fitting the job in hand just right. Tbh I do (after purchasing) find myself using this tool more than I thought I would in more & more situations where I use to use my impact driver.Small top unit that allows you to get in to the arkward spaces. Weight is average for an 18v makita. You do have to pull the collet forward to insert bits which for me is not an issue (makes sue the bit is in for piece of mind). Torque collar can be a little fiddly when in use as in awkward to get a grip of & keep changing. Other than that can’t fault it tbh. Price is phenomenal £90 for an 18v screwdriver! Milwaukee 12v screwdriver is £100 – £130 depending where bought. DeWalt £170 for a 12v as well. This tool has plenty of “Grunt” power being its 18v & not 12v. If I had to use this all day for all my jobs on its own would I recommend…….Hell yes! Battery also lasts for ages.

Title: No idea how I managed without one previously
Review: I own an impact driver by Makita and it’s great for certain things but overkill for most others. This is lightweight and absolutely superb – no more “overdoing” it and either stripping the screwhead or driving the screw in too deep and damaging whatever you were working on because of excessive torque. This is the tool I should have bought originally in hindsight. But honestly, fantastic bit of kit. Absolutely essential now and will almost certainly become my most used tool.

Title: Compact and powerful unit
Review: I have a makita combi drill which can perform as a driver, but it is too heavy and cumbersome for a lot of jobs. I also have an impact driver which is great, but can be too much (and too noisy). This little drill/driver fills the gap and has a 20 stage torque setting as well as drill – without the impact. Great for all manner of fastening as it has a pretty small footprint. For light drilling you can also use hex drill bits, making this one handy little tool. It also has a bright worklight and is not too noisy. Used the 18v LXT batteries mean this is a great addition if you have the batteries already. Usual Makita build quality so you know it will run for years.

Title: A great Makita bit of kit that deserves more time in the spotlight
Review: I’ve got a couple of Makita 18v devices and while I really like the impact driver – which is great for big stuff like framing, fences, etc. – I needed something with a bit more control for the things that required a bit more finesse. So the idea of a non-hammer action tiny hex chuck drill crossed my mind. I was looking at a few and almost bought a cheap Bosch screwdriver thing and then I found this. It was a bit weird because I couldn’t find (m)any reviews on it, but it’s not going to be a lemon, so I bought one.Wow! I’m glad I did. This thing is dinky and allows me to get right into corners when assembling things. Two speeds and around 20 torque settings enable you to find the sweet spot for various woods and screw diameters, and batteries on it last an age.The device has the usual Makita layout; forward/reverse on a push in switch behind the trigger, and a nice bright job light. Build quality – as always – is great, and the chuck has nice positive action. The bits when inserted are a little loose in the forward/backward direction, but I suspect this is due to it being able to take double-ended bits. I’m using it with Wera bits (PZ2, TX20) and there’s no lateral wobble at all.It came with the belt hook and a double-ended PH2 bit. the hook only allows the drill to sit flat on a work surface with a 3AH or larger battery. If you have 1.5 or 2AH ones, it’ll not sit flush on a workbench.Overall though, really pleased. It means I can keep a bit in the drill and swap quickly between tools and has speeded up my work rate immensely. The impact driver still has a place, and – if anything – I’d see this replacing my combi drill in future, with heavy duty hammer drilling being farmed off to an SDS+ drill or something similar.

Title: Superb driver!
Review: Impact drivers are often far too powerful and fierce for fine joinery. A cordless drill is often too large to fasten things like drawer runners. This new Makita driver is perfect, 2 speeds plus reverse, small, very powerful, and fits in just about any area, it’s quickly become my most used driver, complementing all my other Makita brushless tools, and i do have literally almost every one! My only gripes are occasional rattles from the bearings, never known this before, and that straight after purchase from Amazon, I was contacted by Powertool World, who offered it almost £22 cheaper. I couldn’t be bothered to return it, but it shows that Amazon are not always the best value, and it does pay to shop around! I’ll keep an open mind about the rattly bearings, as my new brushless Makita drill has the same symptoms, so time will tell!

Title: Great little thing, first tool i pick up…
Review: If you do light work and dont need the ability to go through heavy stuff this little thing is excellent. The key words here are ‘little’ and ‘powerful’Its small and light, more powerful than you think, and is my ‘go to’ tool.First out the van, and last back in.Just remember its hex only.
