Title: Kitchenaid – Abysmal aftercare and zero customer service
Review: The product itself is underwhelming, while it worked. As other reviews have catalogued, it heats very unevenly, and seems to have two settings – “slightly warm bread” and “incinerated charcoal briquette”. Deeply unimpressive for “a centrepiece”, that comes replete with a suitably Kitchenaid-esque price tag, that is apparently “iconic”. Although the latter description is perhaps apt, as it’s an accurate representation of the miserable excuse for the service that Kitchenaid offer to their customers.The product failed after very occasional use, spectacularly causing the electrical circuits in the whole house to overload and “trip out”. Kitchenaid customer service wanted it shipped back to them to investigate and repair, which we duly did, boxing it, packaging it securely, and sending it the same day. The courier confirmed it reached the repair centre safely, the very next day….and there it has sat, for more than a month, with no action.Worse, Kitchenaid support have provided zero updates, no information, not a single communication on the repair status. I have now gone beyond the point of mere frustration, having to chase them up and call them, only for their staff to continually mislead, obfuscate, and outright lie. We’re up to the seventh phone call to Morocco now, initially being told that it was “all repaired and ready” and awaiting shipping for the first five calls, with no explanation or update on when it might actually be returned. During the sixth call, things took a turn – apparently now, they *haven’t* fixed it at all, and it has instead been sat there “awaiting a part” for more than three weeks. Then this also turned out to be an outright fabrication, because on call number 7, they instead decided that they aren’t waiting for a part, but it’s “just the backlog”. There is apparently “no point in complaining” (a direct quote) – and you can’t anyway, as they don’t take complaints over the phone, and “have no supervisors working there” that will speak to customers. This despite the assurance on every prior call that the answering agent had “escalated the problem to their supervisor”. This litany of lying is hardly a surprise, given that on every call, I have also been assured a phone call back, an email, or both – some form of update or communication, which has utterly failed to happen. Agents also never record any notes about the discussion (because of course they don’t, that would be foolish, and would mean accountability for the information provided and the lies they are spewing to gullible customers).So, having paid over the odds for a deeply mediocre product, that then failed and attempted to fry our electrics, Kitchenaid customer “service” have compounded the problems by demonstrating that they have absolutely no respect for their customers and are content to take your money, make grand claims of a “Five year guarantee”, and then offer a truly appalling level of service. The constant lies and lack of even basic respect for their customers is provided free-of-charge. My advice would be to avoid them, like the plague.
