Title: Does a slice of bread fit in this toaster?
Review: It never ceases to amaze me that makers of toasters design their product seemingly down to the last millimetre insofar as fitting a slice of bread in it is concerned. This one is no exception. One needs to prod the bread down to make it fit lengthwise. Why? Why not add an inch so that store-bought bread can fit? Why is it so critical to make the distance between bread and the edge of the toaster frame millimetre perfect with no allowance for variation in the rise of the bread? One of the mysteries of this world. It’s the same for all toasters it seems. Its redeeming feature is the width of the toaster. It can take a thick slice. Next, arm yourself with a magnifying glass so that you can see the tiny diamond pointer on the timer control, enabling you to set how long you wish your toast to cook. All in all, if you like short and fat slices of toast and have sharp eyes to set the length of cooking time, this is the toaster for you. It toasts the bread very well – it’s just this fixation manufacturers have with making the grill JUST big enough to squeeze in a slice of commercial bread that remains without address. Sigh…..
