That said, some appreciate the energy monitoring and say it’s easy to integrate with Home Assistant hub using ZHA.

Title: Easy to integrate with Home Assistant hub using ZHA
Review: I have three different types of smart plug in use in the house and garage currently, including 9 of these frient smart plugs. They are very compact, so fit side by side in double sockets, multi-way blocks, and UPS devices. They integrate really well with Home Assistant via Zigbee (ZHA) – as another reviewer mentioned, these are far, far easier than integrating Tuya-based Zigbee plugs with Home Assistant. When turned on and off they do make quite a clunk. Like some of my other plugs, they support a continuous load of 10A, peaking to 13A. When I bought the first few of these frient plugs, they were ridiculously expensive. They have come down a bit in price since then, but still at a price where many people balk. One thing I have noticed with them is that they consistently report voltage roughly 2 volts higher than other plugs. That’s consistent across all 9 of the frient plugs that I have. Even so, and despite their price, these are still my preferred smart plug. In terms of reliability, I had one that was dead on arrival, but all others have worked without issue so far.

Title: Compact Zigbee Smart Plug
Review: Zigbee Smart Plug, compact but not cheap. One of the smallest I have come across. You can get two side by side in a power extension block.Rated at 10A rather than 13A.Quite a loud click when it switches on or offWorks very well with my 3rd party hub and provides power usage information.

Title: Lots to like…
Review: Works reliably with Zigbee and very compact. No Matter or Thread support yet. Frient told me they are looking into this. Hopefully there will be some way to upgrade existing devices as I’ve bought a few and they are very expensive. The Eve and Meross plugs support Matter and are cheaper for example.

Title: Power measuring
Review: They measure power, checked with a power meter and the readings are accurate. Work out the box with homeassistant as they follow the Zigbee spec. Not like some tuya “zigbee” plugs.

Title: Small, plug and play, not cheap
Review: These worked great straight out of the box with Home Assistant ZHA and I would imagine with other Zigbee hubs or controllers too. They are quite a bit more compact than other smart plugs that I own (see first attached pic with side by side comparison with a SmartThings plug) which means you can fit more than one next to each other in an extension lead. The position of the button can be challenging in such a setup but personally I never use it anyway. Placing the button on top would have made more sense but the manufacturer was probably constrained by the small size of the case. The led light on the button seems unnecessarily bright (see attached picture taken in low light) but you can put a small sticker or a piece of electrical tape over it if it really bothers you. Where I have these installed I can’t even see the light, but it might be annoying if they are right next to your bed for example. My only major complaint would be the price – even at a 30% discount these are still more than double the price of similar Zigbee smart plugs, but for that you get accurate energy monitoring and a very compact size. Is that worth the premium price? For me – no; but it might be for you…

Title: Good and easy to integrate
Review: Added to Home Assistant ZHA setup with no problems.1* off because it’s double the price of other Zigbee plugs (e.g. INNR) which don’t have energy monitoring.I can’t see why it’s an additional 100% just for that feature.
