Customers say
Customers like the ease of use and value of the saw. They say it’s very easy to use on hardwood and seasoned wood, with quick release and install of the blades. They are also satisfied with speed, and quality. However, some customers have reported issues with ease of movement and weight. They mention that the blade wanders too much and the saw wobbles all over the place. Customers have mixed opinions on cut quality.

Title: Excellent machine and highly recommended.
Review: I was using a bosch jigsaw for cutting small firewood sticks etc. but found after a short time that while the jigsaw worked well, it was quite an effort to cut through hardwood/seasoned planks etc. It was obvious that the bosch, while a good ‘little’ saw, was not really suited too thetasks I was using it for, as the blade required a lot of effort to push into the wood to cut anything. So a better tool was required.I have several Evolution tools as it happens and have never had a problem with any of them, so I looked at the spec of several makes before buying the Evo Rage7 jigsaw. The multi-use blades decided my choice really, which will cut through steel (nails etc.) quite easily. Also, the motor is probably the same item in all the other jigsaw’s with this power rating, with only the overall design being different. This is more common for power tools than people realise, so I have been told by my local tool hire/repair shop.On first use, the difference between the two machines was VERY obvious. The rage7 made a nonsense of the old planks I was cutting, with no real need to push the jigsaw forward ‘into’ the wood at all. Of course, it is a much heavier machine than the Bosch I was using before, so this made the job much easier than I was expecting or was used too. The blade also wasn’t being forced back against the mechanism of the saw as it cut through the old seasoned planks. The blade also cuts metal plate, so nails in wood are no problem any more, it just cuts through them.I have found the laser beam guide to be accurate on my example and more use than the add-on guide that comes with the saw. As a test, I cut a strip off an old piece of wood using the guide and the result was a nice wavy line. You need to use one hand to push the guide along as you cut, as the jigsaw is so heavy that I couldn’t keep the saw/guide combination going at the same rate. This means you can only have one hand on the machine while cutting (if using the guide also) which is not ideal as it is a heavy, powerful cutter and really needs two hands on it for safety in my view. This problem is due I think, too the guide being very short in length in the part that actually touches the side of the wood while it is guiding the saw. This is why it may be best to rely on the laser beam as a guide. Otherwise a straight cut will be difficult to achieve I have found. As mentioned the saw is heavy for one handed use (I’m no weakling as it happens) but this does mean that it is very easy to use on hardwood/seasoned wood. The weight works in your favour in this instance, un-like the Bosch I was using which was too light. This machine DOESN’T come in a plastic carry case (only a cardboard box) so you need to look on the popular auction site for one, which will be big enough to take the saw with a blade fitted as well. Otherwise remove the blade each time it is put away in the carry box. I found one from 3jcsales for £7.95 plus £3.95p&p.Overall though a good machine I think and I highly recommend it if you want a “heavy” jigsaw. The planks I tested it on were over 65 years old, split with years of use and embedded with nails. Some parts of them actually defeated my (very sharp) hand axe for cutting into small firewood ‘sticks’ afterwards, such was the hardness of the seasoned planks. When I bought my machine, it was priced at £80 so the current price of £60 is a total steal. I’m even tempted to buy a spare one at that price.

Title: Great tool for the price
Review: Great tool for the price.Easy to use, adaptable for both wood and metal. Three different settings to ease cutting. All in all the right tool for the job.Gave to my brother to use, who is not a DIY’er who managed to use it perfectly fine, although he managed to break the blade before he returned it! Blades can be purchased from anywhere, as it’s a standard bayonet attachment.Only negative, as with most tools that use a laser is that it’s not properly aligned, so it needs to be adjusted.

Title: Heavy but powerful and well-built.
Review: I’m not a tradesman. Just an amateur. I own an evolution circular saw which has served me well for years. This is my first jigsaw. It’s powerful and the evolution blades don’t disappoint – just like their circular saw blade it can cut anything but isn’t the best choice for any one thing.. on wood it shreds the top side, but leaves a nice clean line on the other side. however, unlike the circular saws, this jigsaw takes any t-shank blades, so you can choose according to need. The saw will handle it.It’s speedy and controllable – genuinely gets gradually faster and slower, not just 3 settings and a pretend dial. The 3 pendulum settings are also noticeably different from each other. Good solid strokes, no flimsiness in the blade/action.It’s heavy. Which is its main negative – but that comes from its main positive: its solid. The silver front face is solid metal, not plastic. the laser line isn’t in line with the blade (on purpose?) so it sits to the left of your blade. Dunno how useful it is really. And it has separate AAA batteries and it’s own special switch to turn on..Having said all that it’s not cordless, so you’re planning to use it stationary and it’s great for that. The weight actually makes it easier to control despite vibrations and it sits nice and flat. The angle changing thingy is a bit complicated – you don’t just switch angle with a little dial on the outside, you have to unscrew the base plate (remove plastic base plate first, then put it back on) but it’s got click-points, so you’re not turning blind.Great choice for the money.

Title: Quality tool at low price.
Review: I have to say that this is once again a good product from Evolution. I could have scored 4 stars as i am not happy with the air blower, but overall i am happy with the accuracy and power of the product.

Title: Very Good, definitely recommended!
Review: I was only going to give this 4 stars but, after careful consideration, I cannot give this anything other than 5. Easily the best Jigsaw I have ever owned. It is very powerful. It is heavier than most others, but in my book – heavy =q uality! It easily glides through anything I have thrown at is so far. No annoying blade cutting at a slight angle off 90degrees (like some other cheaper orange brands I could mention, but won’t!) The laser line and blower keeps the work simple to follow and exact as you would require when making precision cuts! I haven’t done many curves yet but I have no doubt it will excel!2017 Update – I have now down curves and it was excellent – I cut out 3 speaker holes in a 1″ thick MDF speaker box.

Title: Tough build but very heavy
Review: It’s built to last but it’s just too heavy. I thought about returning it but I don’t use a jigsaw too often so I stuck with it. If you use one often I wouldn’t recommend it.
