Title: Thirsty
Review: I have barely used the printer apart from perhaps 6 x A4 print-outs and those were basically tests. The black is down to 20% already.I’ve come back to this site to order more black but only magenta and yellow are offered. This aside I’ve no problems with it’s efficiency so far.

Title: Top quality printer
Review: I really don’t get the negative reviews! I got mine out the box, plugged it in and started printing and have printed a lot, including the usual test pages and tested the photocopier option using black and colour. I’ve checked the ink levels and they’re full for the colour ones and three quarters for the black which wasn’t full when I got it!I like the quality, I like the fact that I got it out the box and didn’t have to clean the print heads or align them like I did with a Canon MP150 I had to send back.I like this printer a lot, I can only advise that Epson must have taken heed from other feedback or maybe I just got lucky.

Title: OH MY GOD!!! NO DONT DO IT!!!
Review: Peoples, if you want advise! Dont buy any Epson product… I just got of the line from the tech support and they asked me loads of questions and finally they told me to chuck away the one i had and get a new one…Well they didnt say it directly like that but thats what they indrectly told me… It worked fine right upto the date when the Warranty ended…Thats when the problems came in… I ended up buying like loads of Ink Cartridges cause of the bloody ‘Head Cleaning’ process which sucks, literally sucks a lot of ink! Guess what- the heads still didnt clean up and now i have a scanner only and no printer… I could have bought a bloody seperate scanner and printer much cheaper but now i have to either chuck this one out or just use the scanner option only… Final thought of the day… Please, dont just go for the looks of it nor the price…It aint worth the stress that you will have to go thru with this useless peice of technology… Ciao…

Title: Brilliant printer RUBBISH scanner
Review: This is a truly superb printer and standalone copier. it prints and copies very quickly , the quality of prints is superb and copying documents only needs the touch of a button 9though there isnt a button for multiple pages so it can be unpractical if you want to print more than one). However ,the problem comes when you connect the printer to the PC and expect to use it as a scanner.the scanner software is terrible , despite 3 re installations it is incredibly slow and sluggish and will crash many times before you’ve even begun to scan your document. when the scanning starts it takes almost 5 minutes to scan a low res picture.i previously used an agfa snapscan scanner and although it is very big it scans inceredibly quickly. This would be a brilliant all in one machine if the scanner actully worked as its meant to , though unfortunately it is only a good printer and copier. i’ll continue to use my agfa for scanning.PS: Make sure the printer is connected directly to the pc with a USB 2.0 cable otherwise it will print strange characters instead of your document

Title: Unfair Reviews
Review: I have one of these DX3800 printers, and I understand some of the negative comments people have left, however they are totally unjustified. These people have more of a complaint with Epson than the DX3800 itself.Upon receiving this printer, I was very impressed with its styling, it looks the part and it is not bulky at all. Maybe I just feel this way as there is actually space on my desk now due to the removal of my flatbed scanner.I set the printer up and was impressed how quickly it all got working. This doesn’t say a lot however as my last printer was an Epson stylus colour 400 (quite old).I set about doing what everyone does when they get a new printer; print of anything just to see how good the quality is!I had quickly printed of 4 or 5 a4 sized pictures at various settings, and was very impressed at the quality. The printing speed isn’t fantastic although I clocked an a4 page of text at 25 seconds, not another reviewer’s 50 seconds, but this may be due to font size and/or printer settings. The quality of scanning is excellent, and the photocopy function is excellent, with a colour and a greyscale copy button. As I was playing around with the printer settings, I looked up the status monitor only to be shocked to see the ink levels on the ink monitor had decreased by half!I quickly began to question my purchase. Printing speeds not much better than my old one, plus it guzzled ink like a GT40 does petrol! I thought about sending the printer back but I had given away my old one, and as it was quicker than what I had previously I decided to keep it. I did a quick search on ink prices and found I could get two black ink cartridges delivered to my door for less than 6 pounds and thought I would stick it out with the new printer and see how I got on.I got them delivered and unsurprisingly the dx3800 soon needed refuelled.I put in one of the compatible cartridges, and 3 months later, after countless university lecture notes being printed off by myself and my girlfriend, the dx3800 is not even a quarter of the way through the black ink cartridge. After a bit of investigative work, I have discovered Epson ship their printers with starter ink cartridges with little ink in them.Despite the initial scare I was given on the ink usage rate, I am very happy with this printer/scanner/copier. I have not given the dx3800 5 stars due to the slowness of the printing. You can receive a very high throughput, but only if you turn the quality way down, and to be honest, this isn’t worth doing for anything unless it is just a draft. The fact that the printer came with starter ink cartridges did not help either.Hope this clears a few things up, and people aren’t put off buying printers from Epson, as although this would be considered a budget device, it really is excellent.

Title: Does what it says
Review: This Epson Stylus DX3800 has been a reliable printer in my office now for over a year and it gets some serious use (Estate Agency, so lots of colour pics and detail sheets). The scanner and copier are useful additional functions and work perfectly well. Ink costs are comparable with other printers and at about £50 this printer is disposable. The main reason for choosing Epson is the quality of the ink. It does not fade in our south-facing window display and the colour reproduction is excellent. ‘Compatible’ ink cartridges are a false economy (I’ve tried them!) and maybe that’s where some people have gone wrong. When this Epson printer decides not to work I’ll just go and buy another one. A DX3800 if it’s still around in another year or two.
