Title: Nice flexible lead
Review: Old iron broke so needed a new one. The biggest problem with a very light very hot soldering iron is a stiff PVC cable that means trying to put the iron down on the table without it turning over and burning something is a continuous problem. The lead on this is not completely flexible but makes the soldering iron so much more user friendly,

Title: Not for soldering
Review: For what I wanted this for (not soldering), this iron was fine but don’t buy it if you want to solder with it. It gets so hot you can’t even tin the tip without the solder boiling away and leaving a horrible brown scale behind. In case you’re wondering – realising how hot it was, I had to see if it was OK for soldering (just to satisfy my curiosity (or my CDO).

Title: Gonna need spare tips
Review: Excellent iron for the price, I was getting blobby joints with my gas iron which has always been far too hot. This is good. I have to keep tinning and cleaning the tip, and as I use a brass tip cleaner I can see wear after a couple of hundred joints. However, spare tips appear to be about a quid and readily available, so no biggie. Feels solid in the hand, the silicon cable is nice. It does smoke like a chimney on first warm up from new, but to be expected.
