Title: Solidly built
Review: Solidly built and quite portable, this mitre saw is the perfect addition to any D-I-Y person with more than just a garden shed. The instruction manual is easy to understand – hurray! – and it comes with dust extraction outlet and a bag for collecting sawdust. You also get hex keys, box spanner and a spare set of brushes for the motor; we’ve never come across the latter before.Easy to set up and move around; what we like is the fact that we can take the saw to the job, rather than having to return to the workshop whenever it’s needed. The laser beam is really useful, marking the cut line before actually cutting.Mr Gizmo’s new toy will come into its own when the good weather returns and I find him more Jobs To Do.

Title: Very Basic – But Price Does Not Reflect This
Review: Hmm. Firstly lets be clear here. This is a brand marketed item that you can find under different names and colours supplied from China. This does not make it good or bad because you can do really well from this way manufacturers work but you can also get a bit caught out. This is a case in hand. Now, fair enough I got this to review. However, I am an engineer and have renovated numerous houses and have a big workshop and owned loads of these things. This, I can assure you, is basic and not much use for really accurate work. The price however is quite high and therefore is up against far more capable machines. The overall build quality is okay but no more. Bit ‘Transformer’ but generally okay for entry level machines. However, it’s not quite sturdy enough. When you use this it’s quite easy to press down and twist this a bit out of true. You have to be very careful to make sure you press in line or this will happen. Then there is the issue of accuracy. This isn’t. I set this up exactly at 90 degrees in both cutting planes using 1-2-3 blocks so I know it was as good as it could be and when I cut 4×2 wood it simply did not cut square. Clearly, as one moves the blade down it squews out of true or the blade runs out.It is fitted with a ‘laser’ guide – which, in common with every other one is as much use as a chocolate jet engine. I’m never sure what you are supposed to use them for because you need to line up with one side of the blade or the other. Most likely the left hand side. And they never ever do. This one tends to run mostly from the right hand side at a slight angle. Which I’d like to note was not adjustable out. Regardless, the red line is useless as they all are. Just use a measure and a pencil. The materials this is made from are decent with what feels like glass fibre reinforced plastic and a nice cast base. The bottom line is that this should be priced much lower to reflect the lack of accuracy and lack of rigidity and then used for general purpose woodwork like making outside fences or sheds. Not much use if you want proper accuracy for second fix or cabinet standard cutting.

Title: Sturdy, well made, easy to use
Review: I was impressed with this saw. Out of the box (packing was good) it is quick and easy to set up, the instructions are very clear and easy to read. Construction quality is very good, nothing flimsy or cheap about it and gives you confidence that it will perform as required. Despite being a sturdy saw it isn’t overly heavy so its easy to move around your workshop as needed, or to take it “cross country” – I have teamed mine with a petrol generator to take out into the fields for fence and outhouse repairs. The laser allows for perfect cuts every time – most welcome when working in the gloom
