Review: One of my favorite authors on coaching. In fact it seems Ray Powers is many a people’s favorite author as every time I run a giveaway on my coaching page with one of Ray’s books, we are inundated!Anyway, this is another excellent offering from Coach Powers.. Review: This book was great for helping me incorporate new drills into high school team’s practices. Each drill is easy to understand and explain to the players. There are advancement stages for each drill too, as well as guidance on how to see that the players have mastered one level and are ready to move to the next.The book itself seems a little large at first, but then once you start adding notes and building out alternatives in the margins, the size makes more sense.

Review: Good book with easy to understand and use drills. For experienced coaches, you will have seen a number of the fundamental drills previously however there are some good higher end drills here with documented iterations for higher level skill development. For developing coaches, there are many good ideas with subsequent iterations to help you bring a new drill or game to your practices. Players often respond to new drills much better than simply repeating the same old drills that coaches inevitably fall back on.
