Review: Comprehensive dash cam kit, supplied with all you need to run a front and rear camera setup.As we are in the process of changing our car, I have not installed it fully, just set it up on the bench to check the operation of the rear camera with the front one (which they recommend you do anyway prior to going to the effort of making the full installation, to check everything works as it should)Easy enough to set up, going through the menus is fairly intuitive, with all the fixed buttons clearly labelled and some reference to the instructions. Setting the time and date, recording resolution, recording intervals etc all achieved easily.The biggest challenge was peeling the screen cover (with the instructions for initial use printed on it) as the little tag that is supposed to aid removal just came away on its own!Decent length cables for both front and rear, effective mounting brackets so the physical installation of both is straight forward, just a case of hiding everything best you can.Unit powers up quickly when the power comes on, then powers down after 10 seconds when the power goes off.In use it works as expected, the recorded image is clear, I have it set so the rear camera is in the top right hand corner as a picture in picture, but you can have a 50/50 split of front and rear or all front or all rear, whichever suits your needs.The screen is quite small for effective use of the rear parking mode, as you can’t really see enough detail to be useful. To use this fully, you need to wire into the reversing light circuit. But an interesting feature.A good budget dash cam

Title: Good budget Dashcam- reversing camera less useful
Review: Rather retro-design in construction and not as streamlined or jazzy as the more expensive offerings, this is quite an honest dash-cam for a good price. It works well when set up correctly and comes with far more bits’n’bobs than most, especially in the small box supplied. It comes with it’s own SD card to record your journeys, fitting kit and a rear view camera, which needs to be connected tot he reversing light to switch itself on- in truth I didn’t fancy breaking into my car’s electrics to do this so just didn’t fit it.Fitting is very easy, you will need a lighter socket for power, it comes with it’s own power plug and cable, route the cable around the dash and A pillars using the tools supplied and fit the suction cup and power up the camera.On the screen image is an amount of data about the camera’s function, but it’s not linked to any external sensors so average speed and sat-nav location info is not possible in this device.Once on it automatically records onto he SD card- images in daylight are good, crisp and of suitable quality, it does appear close to 1080 so all good there.Night image is fair, it’s a little dependent upon local lighting conditions and also a bright light may lead to a little blooming on dark roads, but generally it’s effective and good value. Note if oy want to have parking recording for bumps etc you will have to get a kit to manage the power better than the 12v socket, also it does mean having hte camera on view and as it can only face forward may be of limited se in the event of a bump.It’s a fine, budget dash cam, nothing flash, but will get you used to the discipline of having the recorded on at al times when driving- it should give good piece of mind given some of the road users behaviour these days, but I suspect once you have this budget version, you may want to go for a higher spec on later.

Title: great for the price
Review: it was easy to mount, despite taking a while. the provided stick-on cable clips are nice and stealthy as they’re small and black, I used about half of them (5/10). my cigarette lighter is tucked awkwardly underneath the centre console, so I opted to use the USB-A to C cable instead in my USB port.I didn’t test how long the battery lasted, but as it is listed at 300mah, I don’t imagine it lasts too long without being powered.the sensor in this cam seems pretty good. the videos output as .MOV files and they’re clear for such a cheap dashcam. when at traffic lights you can clearly read reg plates. like most dashcams, it suffers at night: reg plates and buildings are indistinguishable, but car models and streets are fine.I already have a reversing camera but I’m not sure I’d use the rear camera even if I didn’t, as the screen is pretty small and it would just be easier to use the rear-view mirror.overall it doesn’t take long to turn on and start recording each time I set off and cheap enough to not get stolen, meaning that I don’t put it away when I park.I didn’t need to use the customer service, but their packaging drives a lot of attention to them being more than willing to help or refund you.highly recommended if this is your first dashcam. the price is perfect.

Title: Comprehensive kit – good image quality
Review: The kit arrives with everything you will need to get this camera installed and up and running. The only caveat to that is that you need to use a lighter socket to power the camera OR you will need to get hold of a hard wiring kit. Installation will depend on the vehicle and how easy it is to get behind trim panels if you want everything invisible. For us, we will look at an installer as some of the trim is tricky to get behind.In use the camera starts on power on and will store files in loops as long as you’ve set in the menu. It does have motion and shock detection, which strangely it says to leave off during driving, so not sure if they suggest that you need to turn them on/off as you enter/leave the car for parking protection as whilst the manual is great explaining fitting and the buttons – it strangely neglects any mention of use in day to day.Overall a good package with good optics for a great price, with just a couple of niggles in understanding it’s use.
