Title: It was cheap, but I expected something that HALF worked!!!
Review: OK, it was cheap – But….I expected something a bit more sophisticated.Firstly there is no ignition button, so it has to be lit from a match, gas flame etc, which is a major pain.Secondly the gas flow ‘trim’ needs getting used to as it varies between “Flamethrower” and just as you get the flame to a manageable level, the bugger goes out. – Back to the matches or the gas stove….It would probably work quite well as a naked flame brazing/soldering torch, or one of those bearded foodie-types who want to scorch their Creme Brulee, but that’s it.Once you put the ‘soldering’ attachment on, well that’s when the fun really starts. The soldering ‘bit’ still has flames shooting out the sides which leaves you in danger of having no skin left on your fingers, seriously scorched components on the board you might try to solder, or worse still, the house a flaming wreck around your ears.All in all, if you are looking for a ‘portable’ soldering tool (don’t forget to take a box of matches with you) and want to work at component level safely, DO NOT BOTHER with this item. Frankly, it’s crap.ps. I also forgot the mention that there are NO INSTRUCTIONS in anything except Chinese…..

Review: This is how it’s supposed to look when it’s working properly.INSTRUCTIONS: You have to ignite it how you would do a gas boiler pilot light.Start low >> Let it warm up (small blue flames) >> When it starts to glow orange, turn it to full!There should be NO blue flames coming out of it when it is ignited correctly.It should come with instructions explaining how to ^do that^Anyway, this is now the BEST soldering iron I have ever owned. You get a lot of heat into the tip and as a result, it works great!
