Review: I really want to give this teapot a resoundingly positive review. But, there is one big thing stopping me, you can’t boil 900ml of water in it.It says it has a capacity of 900ml and waxes lyrical about the various kinds of heat source it is compatible with, but if you try to use it as a kettle with 900ml in it, once it hits the boil you will very suddenly have a violent jet of water coming out of the spout. And when you turn off the heat, it will continue for a little while, because of the heat retained in the cast iron. Not only does this happen with 900ml, I’ve found that it still happens with as little as 450ml in. Any lower than that and the water is too low to interact in any meaningful way with the mesh basket for the tea leaves.So, in short, it’s not a kettle. It’s just a tea pot. It’s a beautiful, well-made teapot that can be (gently) warmed back up on the stove, but that’s what it is. A teapot.It really is gorgeous though.This teapot is selling for £26.99 at the time of this review. That’s fine as long as you know what you are getting.3.5 stars rounded up to 4.
