Title: Build quality ordinary
Review: The first one they sent me stopped working after the first week. I sent it back and got a replacement. The replacement works. But both of the units rattle when you shake them. And the lifter mechanism feels kind of scrapey-metal rather than oily-smooth, if you know what I mean. Considering this was £40, I’d expect better.I bought this to replace my 4-slice toaster, because my kitchenette doesn’t have a lot of room. But it’s not much smaller than my 4-slice toaster! Which is also a Breville, but a different style.I still haven’t found the perfect toaster. But this one will do for now.

Title: Form over function
Review: I’ve only just noticed, since I sat down to write this rare review, that the images from 2018/2019 show a different version to the latest product. Perhaps I have been misled by the earlier reviews. Being misled by reviews on Amazon is commonplace. This toaster is really underwhelming. It has a nice clean appearance but that’s about it.The machine toasts very unevenly. The figures on the heat setting dial are virtually impossible to see and the tiny led indicators are likewise against the shiny background. It feels very unstable when using the lowering / lifting lever. I spent hours looking at toasters on Amazon before ordering this and thought I had made a good choice.It appears to me that all the different toasters use the same chassis with just a different body. I’m not particularly anal about having my bread toasted evenly but good grief, they’ve been making electric toasters for 100 years or more, is it really impossible to make one work effectively? As for the size of bread, we use Kingsmill that measures approx 130mm x 120mm and it only just fits. We haven’t had the Warburton’s Toasty stuff but if, as I suspect, it has the curved top and is larger than the Kingsmill – it won’t fit. Very miffed!

Title: Sleek and Modern
Review: A nice sleek, modern design. Works fine. I like having a ‘reheat’ function. However the toaster would be better if the symbols and numbers on the function buttons and dial were better highlighted as it is difficult to see due to the metallic finish. Also, despite the toaster being used on a flat surface, I find it is a bit unstable when you press down on the lever. I did have to send the first toaster back as it arrived with several dents in the side, due to no protective packaging. I’m all for reducing packaging but if parcels are not handled with care, the product is highly likely to arrive damaged!? That was disappointing but at least the return and replacement procedure was easy and straightforward.
