Review: I am very much of a tinkerer when it comes to mechanical things – I have only enough knowledge to make myself dangerous to whatever I’m working on. I had a particularly awkward job to do which required a bit of a longer reach than any of my ratchets could manage so I spotted this set of spanners which I reckoned was just the ticket, and indeed they were (well the 13mm one was at least). I was loosening a structural bolt in the guts of my van so while it was tight, it wasnt as tight as those in the engine itself so didnt require a huge amount of torqe, nevertheless I manged to turn it with a little effort. In cases such as this the extra leverage certainly helps as well as providing increased reach so its a bit of a double whammy.In use the spanner grips the head of the bolt well enough – not the best fit by far but adequate for most average situations. The shape of the teeth have a bit more roundness to them than is ideal so in higher torque situations I’d say there is the liklihood of slippage. When I was using it there was a degree of flexion in the shaft – not unusual but nowhere near the stiffness of a higher end (and therefore much more expensive) tool. I’d say they perform well, perhaps slightly better than might be expected.They come in the standard range of sizes so no problems there and the chrome finish is very nice. The set comes in a foam insert to keep them in your drawers so again a nice addition. In summary, a good set of spanners, the casting could be a bit more crisp but for the cost (around £5.70 each) I think they’re a little better than the cost reflects. I doubt whether pros would bother with these, but for my needs they are perfect so I’m perfectly happy with them.

Review: Very good for getting down in the auxiliary belt area undoing tensioners etc. better than putting 2 spanner’s together seems very tough set. They are a little bulky but like I say very much fit for purpose snap on equivalent are 10x the price so no brainer.
