Title: Outstanding gaming headphones
Review: Bought primarily for gaming (with some YouTube/film watching on the side) and they are GLORIOUS. They’re my first jump into the beyerdynamic world, having previously owned multiple AudioTechnica, Sennheiser and Logitech headphones. The open soundstage is fantastic for shooters and there’s plenty of detail. Furthermore they’re one of the most comfortable headphones I’ve worn. As someone who wears glasses, clamping force is hugely important and the TYGR 300 R gets it just right. Not too tight that they cause discomfort against my glasses during long gaming sessions but not so light that they fly off my head at the slightest movement. Easily my favourite gaming headphones that I’ve used and they sound pretty good for watching films as well.

Title: Amazing comfort, amazing sound quality, fantastic choice.
Review: Before buying these, I purchased SteelSeries Arctis Pro + GameDAC Wired, which were fairly good however, the sound quality didn’t impress me very much. I decided to return the SteelSeries and purchase these. This was the much better choice of headphones. These headphones are so comfortable, they are very balanced (even more so with some slight EQ) and I would recommend these headphones very much for gaming, movie watching & music listening. This is a fantastic “do it all†headphone. As your average gamer/movie watcher/ YouTube viewer, these are fantastic and well worth the money.Side note: it does take the drivers a couple of hours to “break in†properly to get 100% of the headset. This should not put you off and this is a fantastic choice.

Title: The perfect headphones, over 990, 900 pro x or veild senns
Review: I did the mistake to sell my tygrs for an upgrade to 900 pro x.900 pro x are more clean, tighter an accurate. But my god, they are dull in comparison with the tygrs. The soundstage is smaller and also they have a 4k dip which makes the vocals sound a little weird.BUT THE TYGRS,my god..they are perfect..just pure enjoyment. I had them for 3 months and every time i putem on ..i said wow in my mind. That good.No peaks, siblance or anything like that.In a one sentence: it s like listening to hifi expensive speakers. This is the only headphone i had that does that. The only cans that come close is grado in terms of sound quality, but without this incredible zone/stage you are in when you listen the tygrs, but grados x models are a piece of uncomfortable crap.I think beyer made them too good(aka fun, wide, amazing) and in their german search for perfection they said the.re not analitical enough and made them “gaming”. All i know is that nothing can touch them under 500. Maybe 1990..but their beyer peak is awful.Best purchase you will ever make. Forget any other headphone. The next step up maybe Focal Elegia..maybe

Title: They’re alright
Review: I’ve been trying to find a suitable replacement/upgrade to my HyperX Cloud II’s. I’d been prepared to pay a bit more for something that’s genuinely superior. This isn’t it.At potentially 3x the price of HyperX Cloud II’s, I was expecting noticeable difference in sound quality. If I had to estimate it, I’d say these are 5/10% better than Cloud II’s.So if bang for buck is important, stick with the Cloud II’s (though I’m hearing they were sold to someone who cheaped out and made them worse now)For sound quality overall:*Astro A50’s Wireless (would have kept these, but they’re brutally inconsistent)*Cloud Orbit/Mobious (accurate and clean, but not worth the money)*Tygr (just barely better than…)*Cloud II’s

Title: With EQ, perfect for casual music listening
Review: I was looking for something for late night music listening – jazz acoustic mostly. Tried Grado SR80, SHP9500, HD560S, iBasso SR2, Hifiman HE400SE Deva Pro wired and Edition XS. Finally got these. Smooth, fast, natural, engaging, open. Liked them so much I got a 2nd pair for canjam sharing. Without EQ they sound a bit bright to me so I use a Qudelix 5k to add EQ. I just can’t get over how good these sound, even with other genres. Bargain. Since picked up DT770 Pro 80ohm for when I need a closed-back. Couldn’t be happier and my wallet is happy too.

Title: Superb for music…..but change the ear piece foam disc pads!
Review: Everything I expected these cans to be. Big fan of Beyerdynamic and the “house” sound. Detailed, great imaging and presence of instruments. Bass is full but bleeds badly into the mids erasing a lot of richness especially with guitars and vocals when the music gets busy. This affects rock and metal in particular. I was expecting this from reviews but heard of a tweak by changing the disc foam ear pads with standard ones used in most other dt Beyer cans. I exchanged my dt880 600 ohm ones and wow! The difference was incredible. Don’t ask me how this works but it opens up the soundstage and mid range whilst maintaining the low tuneful bass and detailed highs. They’re now almost as precise as the dt880 but warmer and much suited to rock and metal with a V shaped sound. Build quality appears great and the colour and feel is pleasing. Clamping force not too tight, just right. Recommend these for buyers who may be put off with the reported brightness of Beyer cans. Especially if you change the pads. Incidentally, the dt880 with tygr disc pads sound smoother and more pleasant but retain detail ,soundstage, airiness and imaging.

Review: These are perfect and the only reason I returned them is because the headphones I bought to compare were less perfect but in a slightly more fun way. I was between the TYGR’s and the Philips Fidelio X2HR and I kept the X2’s but only because after comparing the two for a week in person, I just found myself picking up the X2’s more often. The TYGR’s have a fun and lively sound, feel durable and are technically capable. They image well and help me hear footstep positioning in games, they really are the best do-everything headphone. The only reason I kept the X2’s was because they were slightly wider sounding and just felt better and sounded more enhanced in a way that made me feel more immersed. Realistically the TYGR’s are a better headphone and save yourself the questioning and concern. I wish I had only bought these because I would have been perfectly happy, but I worried I’d always be stuck wondering if the X2HR’s would be better and in the end I returned these because the X2HR is such an interesting look, feel and sound comparatively. I’ll repeat it again, just get the TYGR’s, they really are great.

Review: First impressionsI got my Tygr 300R today and I was very excited to try them out. Packaging is as expected from Beyerdynamic at the price point. No fancy things just straight to the point, they’re like, – Here is your headphones. The first thing I realized when picking them up was the weight because they are very light compared to my Hifiman He400se which I daily drive. I haven’t used any lighter headphones since I used my 990 Pros as my dailies. These went bad because I kind of “soldered” or heated up the driver a bit I think causing a quieter sound on the left side and now they’re lying somewhere gathering dust. (I changed the cable from coiled to a straight one). I’ve paired the Tygrs with my Sound Blaster AE-9.ComfortAnyways. In terms of comfort for the Tygrs, they are very light and clamp perfectly compared to my 990 pros I had. My He400se would be perfect if they were lighter. The headband is perfectly padded and conforms to my head, this is personal in terms of comfort I think. Compared to my He400se the headband is much more soft. Don’t get me wrong. The He400se’s are comfy in another way just too heavy and it has a hard and narrow headband.Talking about the comfort of the He400se, they have better earpads in terms of shape due to the angled pads, it makes the headphones sit more secure that way for me. The earpads on the Tygr’s, stock, are mediocre because of the harder padding and narrow space between the ears and driver wall. I think I will eventually switch them out for Dekoni elite velour, please if anyone tried that let me know the differences.Build qualityThese are built well enough to handle most things. These are both plastic and metal. The headband is metal with fake leather around it, metal yokes and the grill is also metal. The rest is plastic. They do feel hefty and durable. The pads are mediocre and I feel like they will flatten like my old 990 pros did.SoundThe frequency response of the Tygr’s non-EQ’d is very good and is my preference in sound signature. I like to add around 3dBs to the sub-bass and flatten out the curve/dip in the bass in the 60hz region for some music because I mostly listen to hardstyle, happy hardcore, eurodance, and a whole lot more EDM and some rock. I also EQ’d around 1k and 4k to add more detail in the mids and lower treble which they responded well to.So actually talking about the sound. The Tygrs are a more smoothed-out pair of DT990 pros with a better soundstage with a little bit less detail. The way I could describe them is that they are a bit on the bloaty side in the mid-bass for people who love Sennheisers or very flat headphones. These are smooth and punchy, still maintain detail, and great at imaging with good layering. They don’t have as an open/expansive soundstage as the 400se but sadly, the soundstage is more congested in a way on the 400se compared to a more deep/layered one on the Tygrs. The Tygrs have a different and lower tone in their openness compared to the 400se which makes them “immersive” when I play games or listen to euphoric tracks. The actual difference in bass mids and highs is big because of the difference in the nature of dynamic and planar drivers. The 400se are much more clear and transparent and have a better representation of clean and fast bass but the quantity is very low. The Tygrs have more bass that almost drowns out too much mids but still retains a decent amount. One of the biggest differences in bass comparing dynamic and planar is the speed. The bass is definitely more punchy on dynamics so far as I can hear and know. The treble on these are good and not at all sibilant anymore as the 990’s. Treble is also comparable to the 400se in quantity. These have a small cushion on the driver wall to help drown out the highs that are piercing which is good. My pair of He400se’s actually have a grainy treble for me which is kind of expected with the pricetag maybe? The way I look at both of these is that they are good for different things as all headphones are. But the Tygrs for me are better because of a more suitable signature and overall sound for me, and they are more comfortable. I just wish I didn’t have that problem with my He400se.
