Title: Very impressive little laptop
Review: This laptop, for this price, is a bargain. Now as long as you’re not expecting it to play the latest games you won’t be disappointed. The laptop looks very nice and the resolution is crisp. I’ve seen people say it’s slow but it does not seem to be the case.Very impressed so far

Title: It’s very cheap!
Review: This is a hard one to review. Any criticism really needs to be weighed against the fact that it is a fully functioning laptop for 150 quid! The build quality is as one would expect. Everything is plastic and a bit bendy, but it is light and doesn’t feel particularly fragile. The screen is basic, but does the job – when it’s dark, you can see the led bleeding through at the bottom of the screen, which is the case with cheaper screens. When I booted it the first time, it seemed unbearably slow, but after dumping the bloatware, that seems a little better (still can’t seem to completely remove McAfee, even with their own tool for the purpose). I’m weighing the pros and cons of just running Ubuntu instead of Windows, which I’m sure would improve things no end – and avoid MS and ASUS ridiculous data gathering. The keyboard is okay. I recently upgraded to a mechanical keyboard for my desktop PC (a worthwhile extravagance!), so compared to that it’s terrible, but as far as cheap keyboards go it’s alright. The layout is a bit awkward, and I keep finding myself hitting Home and End by accident. Hopefully this will improve. It remains to be seen what the battery life is like. The estimated time is all over the place, but it seems okay so far. For the most part, this is a decent laptop for the money, which when you’re buying a machine in this price bracket is really the main consideration. One thing I will say, is that clearly money has been the greatest consideration for the manufacturers also. It seems as if they have reduced the feature set over time, as elsewhere I believe it is stated that this should have a backlit keyboard and an SD card slot, neither of which are present. The most surprising thing I have found so far was upon installation of an NVME (64gb storage is woefully inadequate), there was no screw to secure the drive in place! Worse still, I had to resort to pinching a screw from elsewhere within the laptop, and there was slim pickings because they had missed a lot out when building the thing! Overall, this is an alright bit of kit. Quite amazing what can be achieved at this price point, but don’t expect miracles.

Title: Pre-loaded with Microsoft:
Review: This is a nice enough little laptop, with an excellent big keyboard. The 14″ screen is a bit deceptive, because it is not usual proportions – but a bit elongated.Great pity it comes bunged-up with Microsoft programmes (which are a form of enslavement!), so the new user has to jump through hoops to retrieve his familiar Google, gmail, etc.Still …… I suppose I’ll beat it, and be fine!
