Title: Super performance, coffee, looks and quality.
Review: Great little machine. Yes it is beautifully designed and manufactured, it also makes an excellent coffee, I have tried a couple of brands and grinds both good, am going to mainly stick with Illy with this as Illy helped design the working functionality of it. Simplicity itself to use and provides enough for one decent cup or two double espresso size amounts of coffee.(I have the medium size machine). Far simpler to use than the more traditional Bialetti etc models. Not really an espresso as we understand it nowadays, strong clean pure taste.I use mine in my small vw camper on the gas burners, that’s why I bought it, so I can always have a reliable espresso type coffee anywhere.I have an induction cooker at home on which these don’t work, have also used it on a trivet on my wood burner lid which worked well.My only slight problem area when using it is if I want to make another pretty quickly it remains very hot and it’s difficult to extract the coffee grinds holder from its slot to refill it as it’s hot and a tight fit, so burned fingers a couple of times but have devised a system to minimise that.I find the Bialetti milk frother and Pulcina keep me happily supplied with Macchiato ish or flat white ish great coffee. And again, it looks great and draws comment.

Title: It’s an Alessi of course it’s great.
Review: I’m something of a collector of coffee stuff. Fully down the specialty coffee rabbit hole. In my experience, Alessi moka pots are always beautifully designed with great build quality. This is no different. It is heavy for its size. The thickness and weight of the milled aluminium body is noticeable as soon as you pick it up. It makes great coffee (rich, full bodied, no metallic aftertaste as with some cheaper moka pots) and brings serious 1950s art-deco vibes to your kitchen. What more could you want?

Title: Looks nice, performs badly
Review: This Moka pot looks amazing, but getting it to work properly is frustrating. I’ve been using a Bialetti Moka for ages and can repeatably manage to heat it for a steady stream of coffee – therefore it’s not my technique at fault. Even at low steady heating the Alessi splutters and flows, then stops, and spits. With the lid open to watch the brew it’s a spitty mess. It’s also expensive and make some bold claims about the design and coffee taste – which I can’t agree with. It shall be something nice to look at but not nice to make coffee with.UPDATE 12th Feb: It’s all down to the seal – the one supplied is silicone and needs to be tightened quite a bit – the best solution is to buy a set of Baletti seals and use those instead.

Title: Now caffeine crazy!!
Review: Had one made for me by my Neighbour who had one..ordered this the day after + I love it!!This madass tho drank all my trials + wondered why it was a long sleepless night with not even knowing how many of the 3 shot espresso drinks I’d had!!The coffee tastes clean + isn’t bitter at all with the way it’s made to steam through so no nasty bits at the end either!Treat yourself..you won’t regret it!!

Title: Stylish and straightforward.
Review: Still dialling in the right grind and timing for this, no info with instructions but appears to hold around 13-15g coffee depending on grind setting and 150ml water. Output is about 70ml so three espresso shots is about right. I’m preheating the lower section with boiled water to reduce the risk of bitterness. No issue with cleaning, instructions are very clear on how to and how not to treat this product. Very easy to clean. Just don’t stick it in the dishwasher-its aluminium.Update: Setting 7 on the Wilfa Uniform and 14g seems to be the sweet spot for my taste.

Title: Pure class! If you want to impress your visitors……
Review: As an addict of buying espresso pots, this caught my eye immediately, so the dog decided to treat me for Christmas. Was not disappointed! Beautiful pot that makes the perfect espresso every time, also comes packaged in a beautiful box as well so would make an excellent pressie for any coffee lover. It was also £30 cheaper than eBay and had the red handle (wife’s favourite colour) ideal size also for 2/3 small “power esspressos”. Highly recommended

Review: The Alessi is a definite improvement over the standard Moka pot in a few ways. First of all, and most importantly, it makes better coffee. I had read this in reviews but had some admitted skepticism until I tried it. It produces a rich, full-bodied demitasse strength cup with none of the burnt notes I would always get with my old Moka. Also unlike the Moka, it consistently uses all of the water in the base, whereas the Moka pot would start to sputter and gurgle after using only half the water. The thick plate on the bottom of the pot seems to do a good job of dispersing the heat evenly, even on an electric stove.Second, the build quality is impressive. I have had several Moka pots of various sizes over the years and they felt, for lack of a better word, cheap. The aluminum felt flimsy and the pieces fit together in a haphazard sort of way. The Alessi, by contrast, seems to be engineered and manufactured to much tighter specifications. The aluminum feels heavier and the parts fit together snugly. The lid on the upper part opens and closes smoothly without being loose or rattling around.Third, but partly an extension of the point above, the Alessi is beautiful. Both the aesthetic and functional design elements are outstanding. It looks great on the shelf, its crisp, smooth lines (presumably from CNC machining) when viewed up-close become sweeping curves when viewed from a few feet away. The only real downside to the design is the handle. It is a bit small and awkwardly shaped, making it difficult to pour without your fingers bumping the hot metal. I usually grab it with a towel or oven mitt if I am pouring right off the stove. Also, in case anyone is not acquainted with Moka-style coffee makers, this device does not make espresso. Coffee from the Alessi is never going to taste like a shot of espresso from your favorite coffee shop. That said, it does produce a stronger brew with more body than a drip-style coffee maker, and it is appropriate for a demitasse serving. It is called a 3-cup maker, but I get just a bit over two espresso cups’ worth of coffee per brew.Overall, if you are like me and had given up on Moka-style coffee, you might consider giving this one a try. It is a big improvement over the Moka, and will look great on the shelf even when you aren’t using it.
