Title: Alessi Expresso Maker 18 Year Review
Review: I have used the same Alessi 9090 6 Cup stove top Expresso maker almost every day for the past 18 years! It has worked perfectly for this entire period and makes great coffee every time. I use lavazza coffee most of the time which is a good option for this type of Expresso maker. I’ve used it on either gas or AGA hot plates equally successfully. I have not even needed to replace the silicon seal during this period. Sadly the bottom water reservoir started leaking very recently and it’s not possible to buy this part alone so I’ve bought a whole new one exactly the same!I’ve attached a picture of the old and new ones side by side to show what 18 years of wear looks like! I don’t put it in a dishwasher and this is not advised but a gentle hand wash seem to do it.Although this is sold as a 6 cup model I find it’s just right for 2 decent sized Americano’s once you top up with hot water.The only reason I only gave it 4 stars for VFM is full price would be circa £150 which is not cheap but it is great design to look at and the simple latch system for locking and unlocking is much better that the screw mechanism so I’m happy to pay a bit more.I don’t often review items so hope this is useful as these are great items and I hope you enjoy them as I have if you purchase.

Title: 9090/6 Ten year review
Review: I have used my 9090/6 almost every day for the past 10 years and can say that it makes consistently good coffee every time.It’s beautiful to look at and easy to use. Unlike some other more temperamental brands.This thing is built to last and will serve 1-2 people a lifetime.I would recommend this over the three cup version for its versatility (I have both)I use Saula organic coffee beans which I grind in the 1Zpresso K-Max Manual Coffee Grinder.This set up is the business.Fill the bottom chamber to to the valve with hot water (or midway point for half dose), add coffee basket, then the top. Place over the lowest heat possible and 5 minutes later you get to taste the magic.

Title: Good looks and good coffee
Review: Bit of confusion when I first got this on how to open and close this moka pot, but after getting used to that I’ve found it is very easy to use and I’ve had no/very little water seapage out of the base.Great feature in the 6 cup is the ability to brew only 3 cups, with a separator given in the box for the coffee basket thing.it’s on the steep side of moka pots in terms of cost, but for the style, ease of use and the fact this makes great coffee, I have no regrets.

Title: Quality
Review: Really nice bit of kit. It’s weighty and you know it will last a long time. I’ve been using this just about daily for the last couple of months and it both makes a fab cup of coffee and also cleans and shines up again really easily. The closing mechanism is fantastic and that loud “click” to signal it’s locked is v satisfying. I have the 9090/6 model, and to make a “normal” coffee which fills an average sized mug, I fill it to the max level and use the 3 cup limiter (which is included) and a couple of spoons of coffee. Perfect.We have a belling induction oven / hob and the 9090/06 will heat on any of the ring sizes so I wouldn’t be surprised if the 9090/3 works on the smallest hob size (if you’re thinking of going for the smaller 3 cup model).UPDATE: MAY 2020. Was looking through my Amazon history and thought it worth updating this review. My Alessi is now 6 years old (!) and still used almost everyday. Amazingly, no spare parts have needed to be “swapped-in” and the taste is the same as day 1. Still using the 3 cup limiter (only fished out of the bin a handful of times!) on an induction hob at heat level 5 or 6/9. Bought for £100, approx. 2000 uses, £0.05 per (big) cup. Buy quality, buy once.

Title: Quality could be better
Review: The product isn’t as sturdy as my last Alessi stove top. A little disappointed to be honest. Feels a bit flimsy . Edges are not so rounded and a bit sharp. The plastic handle gets hot too so be patient and keep the heat turned down to avoid this. Makes decent coffee though.

Review: Does what it is supposed to, and very well! Elegant design. Perfect for induction hobs. I bought the 6 cup version which is cleverly provided with a spacer in the coffee basket allowing you to make half the quantity of coffee if desired.

Title: Recommended but do read the instructions
Review: It’s a beautifully designed espresso coffee maker (5 stars for that). It’s fairly small – purchased a 6 cup-size one and maybe you can make 6 cups but these will be an espresso size cups. Nevertheless, it is able to deliver 2 normal size cups of fairly strong coffee. The base fits nicely on the smallest ring of my electric hob (12.5cm).I have read some negative comments about the issues with the excessive steam coming out from the middle part of the pot. I’ve noticed that the first time when brewing coffee, but then I looked (properly) at the instructions, which say do not use the highest heat on your hob. I changed heat power from the highest 9 to mark 7 and since then no probs whatsoever. It takes a bit longer to brew coffee (11minutes instead of 8/9 minutes when on full heat power).So far so good and although it’s a bit pricey for a coffee pot…well it makes nice coffee and looks absolutely stunning.

Review: I used the smaller version for a year and it was too small for two people. This one is perfect.We use it on an induction plate at medium power and the results are excellent, fast and convenient.While the coffee is different compared to an expresso machine, the overall process and elapsed time are about the same.We love the design. We love the results.

Review: Die Mokkakanne ist bei uns nun seit einigen Wochen im Einsatz und funktioniert einwandfrei. Wichtig ist, dass die Kaffeemahlung nicht zu fein ist, nicht zu viel Kaffee verwendet wird und die Kanne nur auf mittlerer Stufe erhitzt wird! Wir haben auch eine 3er-Bialetti, so dass wir die verschiedenen Kannen, die beide bei uns aktiv im Einsatz sind, leicht vergleichen konnten.Ich kann daher die vereinzelt negativen Bewertungen nicht nachvollziehen und vermute, dass sie möglicherweise mit der Nichteinhaltung einer oder mehrerer der oben genannten “Regeln” zu tun haben.Die Kanne dampft vielleicht etwas mehr als eine Bialetti (wenn fast die volle Kaffeemenge erreicht ist) und das typische “fauchen” erfolgt etwas früher, so dass man den Kaffee noch ein wenig länger kochen lassen kann. Wir verwenden die Kanne auf Induktion mit Stufe 6-7 aus 10, aber jeder muss natürlich für sich selbst die richtige optimale Einstellung finden.Die Kanne schließt durch Hebelwirkung und ist daher zunächst ein bisschen gewöhnungsbedürftig, wenn man vorher eine Bialetti benutzt hat. Aber nach zwei oder drei Kaffees hat man das richtige Gefühl für das Schließen und Öffnen.

Review: Sono cresciuta per quasi 30 anni con questa macchinetta versione 2 e 3 tazze vedendola in casa dei miei genitori ancor oggi. Così a causa di un problema alle dita di entrambe le mani che mi impedivano di avvitare le tradizionali caffettiere moka, ho deciso di fare un’investimento (perché palesemente costosa) ed un regalo 🎁 ed ho acquistato la versione 6 tazze. Alla fine sono entusiasta . Le mani con questa comoda chiusura a scatto ringraziano. Il caffè è diverso dalla tradizionale moka , meno corposo e denso. Ma sono soddisfatta…tanto da averne acquistato già un’altra. Pratica funzionale elegante durevole pulita.
