Title: Simple, lightweight, cheap to run, so easy to use
Review: Easy to use and to clean and endless recipe ideas! I love this slow cooker. The pot is lightweight and nonstick, I’ve used it on my flat electric hob to sear meat and it works great. The lid is so easy to clean and it simply slides on the back and sits in place. My husband thought it would sit in a cupboard but I’ve used in nearly every day since delivery. I’ve made casseroles which is pretty standard and today I cooked chicken quarters, no fluid added, and the meat fell off the bone. I drained it and threw in noodles and veg and there was a effortless meal ready for tea. I also did a cola gammon joint and it was also delicious. After reading the reviews I chose the bigger version and for us it was the right choice. Very convenient, seems to be cheaper to use than my oven and a whole lot easier to keep clean! I’d without doubt recommend this slow cooker, if you’re looking to buy one.

Review: I had the 3L before and it didn’t hold enough for my family, upgraded to the 7.5L and I’m very pleased with it the heat setting are the same as my old one but the lid that stays attached is great. Overall it’s a great quality product the price is good for the money and love the searing option.

Title: Slow cooker
Review: This is the best slow cooker ever. Very lightweight pan makes it easier to handle and the lift and detachable lid is a brilliant idea. Large capacity so you can cook large joints or chickens. Easy to use heat settings, good value for money and pleasant to look at.

Title: Works fine, easy to use/clean, good lid & lid handle design, good capacity. Minor niggles.
Review: SUMMARY: Straightforward to use, and a doddle if you’ve used a slow cooker before. Decent instructions, diagrams, recipes (see pics). It looks good, quite sleek, Lid’s hinge is a good design for easy placement or removal of the lid, and is approx.47cm high when open. Easy to clean: the base exterior is black; Morphy Richards’ brushed silver versions show up water streaks. Good for a large family or batch-cooking for the freezer. Two cooking power levels (High, Medium) and a ‘keep warm’ setting called Low. No timer or automatic feature i.e. you must be present to change power levels and to turn it off. Good large lid handle that’s fine to grab while wearing an oven mitt. Capacity 7 to 9 adult portions. Option of 2 year guarantee. Well-presented = good gift potential (see pics). Slightly high-priced. Not for induction hobs. Details below.CLEANING:1. Easy to clean by hand or dishwasher. The lid removes very easily for cleaning.2. If you sear in a separate pan that’s too heavy to lift and pour from and instead have to ladle food across from it into the slow cooker, I suggest you put down a sheet of kitchen paper as inevitably there’ll be spillage.3. Crock insert and lid are dishwasherable, according to Morphy Richards, and I always dishwasher them. But dishwasher cleaners contain abrasive cleaners and the instructions include Morphy Richards’ back-covering advice to avoid abrasive cleaners.BUYING TO UPGRADE TO A LARGER SLOW COOKER? I also have a 3.5 litre Morphy Richards slow cooker, and with this 6.5 litre one I find I need to sear in noticeably more batches before layering or mixing items into the crock insert. In fact I find it easier to sear in a separate _SHALLOW_ pan on the hob, because the crock insert is very deep in proportion to its horizontal footprint which means that food (especially meat) risks steaming rather than searing. This means the crock insert searing facility has become a wasted feature for me. Also consider storage before buying e.g. you might think you’ll get rid of your old smaller slow cooker to make space for this one (and it’s a biggie), but I bet you won’t.NEW TO SLOW COOKERS? / THE INSTRUCTION LEAFLET: This one is mostly or entirely intuitive, and I’d say this is a good first model to start with (either the 3.5 litre version or this 6.5 litre size). The instruction booklet is written clearly and has diagrams, and there are several pages of recipes (not tried). Although the diagrams have very thin and barely-there black lines, they do have red parts to show, say, direction of turn.WEIGHT / SLIPPY-SLIDEY: The appliance is surprisingly light in weight. It feels a tad worrying if you’re used to the old-style heavy slow cookers. Don’t worry that it’ll topple when empty if the lid’s up – it won’t fall over unless you knock it. When it’s empty or barely filled, beware that it can take you by surprise (or shock!) as it easily slides across a work surface such as glass or smooth stone. I do think the base should be manufactured with a bit more weight in it; after all, when taking the crockpot to the dining table you’d take only the insert, as the base has the electric cable permanently attached to it.LID:1. The lid handle is nice and large, making it easy to take hold of when wearing an oven mitt.2. The lid when up makes the whole appliance approx. 47cm high; maybe allow extra for manoeuvring your hand if you keep the slow cooker under a wall cabinet.3. The glass lid is good in that it doesn’t steam up much. It steams up quite a lot at first when the appliance is on High, the crock insert is already hot, and you’ve just put hot food in it.4. Many slow cookers are versatile because you can put the crock insert and lid in the oven, should you prefer not to use the slow cooker base. But for this appliance, the crock insert is ovenproof but you can’t use the lid in the oven as the hinge part is plastic; you’d have to concoct a foil lid or place a baking tray on top.5. The hinge part is a good simple design so you can remove the lid in one quick fluid movement and replace it likewise.6. Hinge/lid design means you must remove the lid to remove or replace the crock insert (the design may be to ensure water falls back into the pot). This is an issue if you use it to sear food first. As mentioned above, I now tend to sear in a separate pan on the hob and transfer to the crock pot, because the crock insert’s walls are high, to avoid the risk of steaming rather than searing.CONTROL KNOB / POWER LEVELS: Control light lights up red when on – High, Medium, Low. The control knob is a decent size, easy to use and seems pretty robust. I read about one model (not Morphy Richards) where several customer reviews mentioned the control knob soon breaking off. You must be present to change between the heat levels; this is a disadvantage in that it won’t automatically turn itself to Low (equals ‘keep warm’) but your food shouldn’t burn even if, say, you’re late home by an hour or so provided you’ve left it on Medium and have left enough liquid in it to cover the food.CAPACITY: Instructions say the minimum quantity should be half-full, and that still provides 4 adult portions of a casserole composed of meat pieces, veg (onions, mushrooms, celery, carrot) and stock/gravy. (I own the 3.5 litre Morphy Richards Sear and Stew which, when full, yields 4 to 5 adult portions of the same casserole.) This 6.5 litre version produces 7 to 9 adult portions of the same casserole even when not totally full, and it’s a good size for large families, entertaining or batch cooking for the freezer.UNDERNEATH OF CROCK INSERT: I noticed with the 3.5 litre version that you need only low to medium heat for searing. Brief accidental high heat marked the underneath, but it doesn’t affect the performance. Might be the same for the 6.5 litre version._NOT_ FOR INDUCTION HOBS: Says in the instructions page 5: “The Cooking Pot is compatible with most hobs, except induction.”VALUE FOR MONEY: Decent value for money but a bit expensive at 39.99 considering that it’s a fairly basic model and has no timer, end-time-klaxon 🙂 or any automatic feature at all. Morphy Richards is a reputable name and they make the most of it.PACKAGING / GIFT POTENTIAL: Mine came in a stout outer box, and a fairly thin box inside that. The outer one tells you it’s a Morphy Richards appliance and model number. The inner one pictures and names the appliance. The inner box has each item well-packaged inside in plastic bags between polystyrene boards. It’d make a good gift (to give or to put on your Amazon Wishlist!) – make sure you choose the option during check-out to have the Morphy Richards box sent inside an Amazon box – this ensures more robustness during transit as well as (mostly) keeping the surprise. Tip: film yourself opening it as everything is very tightly fitted and packed, in the unlikely chance you return it.GUARANTEE: 1-year statutory guarantee. There’s a Morphy Richards’ voluntary 2-year warranty but check the limited terms. See the instruction booklet for how to register.

Title: A really good slow Cooker
Review: Being able to sear the meat in the container prior to the slow cooking process is very convenient. Three levels of heat give control over the cooking. The container is very easy to clean

Title: Good Replacement for Heavy Ceramic Slow Cooker
Review: I am now very happy the handle broke on my heavy ceramic slow cooker in the end and the bowl dropped to the ground and smashed. It was so terribly heavy and a nightmare to handle. This new lightweight Morphy Richards version is a dream in comparison and can be lifted and moved around easily and washed up and put away without straining my back! It is super easy to clean and the non-stick is very non-stick. I find this size is good for about 4 portions. Three large chicken breasts fit into it.
