Title: Versatile and terrific value
Review: As an avid aero modeller I often need a soldering iron, whether to make up cables for radio control items, attaching plugs to battery leads or joining the thinner grades of piano wire. Previously I have used a number of different wattage soldering irons (and still do for heavier-duty tasks) but these take relatively longer to reach operating temperatures and do not feature stands so are always in danger of burning work tops.This soldering station heats up fast and has the ability to allow you to set the temperature to suit the job – a real boon. It comes with a selection of different tips which are useful according to your specific needs/access and is nice and compact – the built in stand is most useful too. My only caution would be to make sure that you use the tip cleaning device provided or a wet sponge – do NOT attempt to clean with a file as you would an old-fashioned copper bit as that will destroy it. Spare tips are available for this soldering station – which is not always the case with other models. It has had a good deal of use and performs very well indeed, proving excellent value for money
