Title: Quality kit, easy to fit, set up and work great
Review: Really love this but if kit. Really nice, quality product. I had been considering what I could do to reduce my use of Alexa/Wi-Fi plugs in some areas of the house, as I’ve been using them a lot for various home automation and equipment setup recently. I wanted to tidy things up a bit where possible and reduce any plugs hanging out of the sockets and this looked like a great solution – and it’s been perfect for the job! I was a bit skeptical at first due to the very reasonable price in comparison to a single Wi-Fi plug, but having opened the box I found this to be a quality brand and product, being well made and thought out. Being a British company I was reassured at the note about being GDPR compliant with my data, as some Wi-Fi products like these sockets which you add your Wi-Fi network password to can send data all over the world and come with little or no information on this. Additionally I was equally impressed with the app (BG Home) which is well layed out, user friendly and intuitive to use. Fitting the socket was a straight forward affair and as soon as you turn on the power the sockets go into setup mode and the switches start to flash and are then easily locatable within the app for you to set up. You can then give the socket a master name and then each individual socket can also be named separately too. Then you simply add the Alexa skill it is instantly recognisable for you to use voice commands to turn on and off. Connectivity can be an issue with these types of product, I’ve experienced problems in the past with the connection dropping out before, but having added 2 sets of sockets now to my network I’ve had no issues, nor when I’ve reset the modem, or reset the power, they have both seemed to have rejoined the network without any manual intervention which I’ve had to do with some plugs in the past, so top marks to BG for this. As I mentioned above I bought a second socket as I was so impressed with the first one, and I have been using them reliably for a couple of weeks now. They look much nicer than having Wi-Fi plugs poking out every socket, given you a little more space if your plug is behind furniture for example. You also have the option of using the manual, single push switches to turn them on and off, or you can use a voice command or it’s controllable via the app, so no problems for the boomers in the family or visitors who get confused by giving voice commands – they can bend down and press them on and off just like they are used to. The low blue glow of the switches looks neat as well when they are switched on. They work just as as well as the Wi-Fi plugs without the clutter – Highly recommended!

Review: Can be a bit fiddly the first time you set these up and usually, doing it manually is the better way. Tips for you. Turn off 5G on you router which you set these up and turn it back on after. Always use the same network on your phone that you intend to connect the sockets to. Turn off mobile data on you phone whilst setting up. Once done, they are stable and work flawlessly all of the time. Reconnect after power cuts etc with no issues and never drop out. You can mesh them together to help with connecting too so have one as the maser close to the router and the rest can slave off each other. Times and functions with Alexa , Google and Siri all work perfectly. Also, work locally or via mobile data when you are out and about. Spot on product.

Review: Assuming you employ a qualified electrician to install the product you won’t have any problems, it’s their profession to do many household electrical tasks, so in my description of fitting the item yourself I take no responsibity if you use what I say and attempt DIY fitting yourself.I found the fitting very easy, even with the little ‘phone shelf’ I have on top. The connections are well built, the earth bus bar connects all the earths (some products neglect this important feature), and the USB power converter is a slim fit so it doesn’t need a deep fit box. Mains plug retention is as good an any good socket. Switches feel sturdy with a positive click the way you would expect and not in a position that would hinder most adaptors except those that are top high. There is ample room between the main sockets and the USB sockets to fit a normal plug and most adaptors. Each USB port is also well spaced, seperated by about 8-10mm, more so than on a PC motherboard that’s for sure. The output is reliable, the only gripe is that you can’t turn off the USB power, so even with nothing plugged in the socket is always drawing power to the USB power converter, but even so, there is no decernable heat, not even with a FLIR camera. I checked out others and this was by far the better choice, be they online or in a store. I’d certainly buy another as the advantage is that when charging a USB device using the UBS ports, you are still able to use the socket which isn’t taken up by a charger. I find it takes a little while longer to charge higher capacity devices, tablets and such, but for most other things it’s more than suitable.

Review: This item is of good quality, and made to be safe. Easy to connect and able to take large cables, which is to be expected as it is rated to 45A. Minus one star because the fixing screws were missing from the sealed packet. These are easy available in UK but maybe not in Europe. It looks as if it’s made in Spain; glad it’s not China.
