Title: Quality, reasonably priced mechanical HDD
Review: A typically good quality, affordable mechanical HDD from Seagate.Since one of my old small internal HDDs decided to wave the white flag after 14 years of use & 3 different PC builds (I can’t complain), and currently being ‘of limited means’ I needed a reliable, well-priced replacement -preferably significantly larger & faster. This 2Tb Seagate model fit the bill perfectly; a standard, well-understood and engineered drive that is bought and used by many people for good reason. The spec. on these BarraCuda drives is good -not spectacular / ‘high-end’, but it isn’t supposed to be: they’re designed to provide people with a decent-capacity, solidly specified mechanical HDD at an affordable price, and have built a formidable reputation as exactly that. Supplied in the usual box and anti-static wrapping, the BarraCuda gives a good impression, nicely built, with a natty green label. Installation is exactly as you would hope / expect and as plug & play as any internal drive can be: fix into appropriate bay, plug in leads, and, as relevant, get your OS to assign a drive letter, format & off you go. In use, I’ve found it quiet, with good access time and no sign thus far of any reliability issues -exactly as you would hope. Since my ancient desktop (almost a decade old now) has another very elderly HDD installed which I use purely for storage, I’ll be buying another of these BarraCudas in the next couple of months as a preemptive measure and capacity / speed upgrade.Does exactly what it’s supposed to do / says on the tin: a good HDD at a decent price. Recommended.

Title: Solid build, reliable in compact package
Review: My old 2tb Green (yes over 12 yrs old) finally died and needed replacing. This 4TB was the natural choice a solid well made h it quite in operation and surprisingly compact (about ¾ height of old green unit) installation and use as a NAS was mostly easy with only minorIssue being the sata connector was 3mm out from original green unit requiring a bit of fettling on existing bracket but for normalPc cables not an issue at all. NowLoaded and running quieter and cooler with less power draw than the old green unit..

Review: Personal experience:The hard drive was partitioned, which made it quite noisy.It was also not very fast, and I could clearly hear it over the fan noise of my PC.It provided ample storage for my needs at the time, but I would now recommend getting a solid state drive instead.For what was advertised it did feel like it was running alot slower overall with speeds.Overall:The Seagate BarraCuda 2TB 7200RPM 3.5″ Internal Hard Drive is a good budget-friendly hard drive, but it is not as fast or quiet as a solid state drive.I would recommend getting a solid state drive instead, unless you are on a very tight budget.

Review: The Seagate 2TB 2.5-inch Hard Drive is a perfect companion for gaming consoles with double the capacity of most stock consoles. I bought the 2TB drive for my PlayStation 4 as it is the largest capacity I could fit into my console (without resorting to an SSD) and has proven to be a reliable drive for my games. Highly recommend for any use case. (WARNING: If you are considering looking at larger capacity Hard Drives for your device, check the height of the drive since any capacity above 2TB makes the Hard Drive double its lower capacity counterparts. Making them unusable for Xbox and PlayStation consoles).

Review: I’ve learned a lesson – NEVER to buy hard disks from 3rd party sellers on Amazon OR even Amazon unless it comes in a frustration free packaging. Anything else means the hard disks are placed inside large boxes without any protection, allowing them to bounce around and arrive defective. I’ve had this situation happen to me on several occasions.This time, it came in frustration free packaging, Ordered 4 of 2 TB hard disks, each one in its box and fully protected. They arrived in working condition and all have passed extensive testing.Purchased these when they were on special for $59 instead of $65, not bad, not much price difference if any, between 1TB and 2TB, so it’s a good value – HOWEVER, be aware here that those inexpensive 2TB drives (with 256MB cache or even 128) are SMR drives, I do not recommend them for a system OS drive – SMR drives overlap tracks (like shingles) once you have used up all the non SMR area and do some deleting files and replacing files, speeds can get extremely slow down to 10MB/s or less. For small files, no problem, the 256MB more than makes up for it, but once the cache is full, the speeds will plummet. This only concerns write speeds. I was fully aware that these drives were SMR. They make excellent backup drives and cold storage, the read speed is unaffected by SMR. I’ve gotten speeds in the 170-200MB/s for read. Perfect for backing up and cold storage – for a System OS or for applications where you are going to do a lot of file deletion, stick to PMR drives or SSDs if you can afford them.The non SMR versions of the 2TB are more expensive of course.
