Title: Fails to maintain USB Connection.
Review: Absolutely useless. Plugged into USB hub on external hard drive to begin with, dropped connection and playback ended several times. Tried plugging directly into USB 3.0 front port on my desktop, same experience. Every 10-15 minutes this drive would disconnect from my PC and cease playback, requiring it to be unplugged and plugged back in. After about 2 hours of use with multiple connection drops, it just stopped being recognised by my PC, though the external HDD connected to its USB hub WAS still recognised. I didn’t pay 70 quid for a USB hub, though!Returned.

Review: Modern laptops tend to drop the built-in CD/DVD drive in favour of size / weight considerations. This of course presents a problem if you still rely on CDs and DVDs for films, old photo albums or achived storage.The Houruntail external drive understands this problem and presents a lightweight multifunction device that is easily slipped in a laptop pocket. This integrated dual-USB cable (USB-A and USB-C) tucks in nicely in the cord storage underneath the device and means no external power is needed.On top of this, it also addresses the limited USB port issue on devices; My Laptop has a single USB-A and a single USB-C port, so the fact I can plug in four USB-A devices (3x USB 2.0, and 1x USB 3.0) means I no longer need to keep swapping peripherals or choose between an external mouse or keyboard when using the drive. I really liked this. It also has an SD and TF slot for additional easy-to-use storage.In use, the drive had no problem reading/writing CDs or DVDs, and writing to them is easy enough to do with Windows without any additional software. It can get quite noisy – the drive sounds like it’s taking off (but I think this is the case with lots of CD/DVD drives. I did have problems when I plugged the USB-A drive into an external (powered) USB socket – it didn’t have enough power to spin the drive and couldn’t find it. But plugging directly into my PC solved this instantly.Overall, this is a very handy multi-function hub that brings back CD, DVD and Blu-Ray back to your PC. The multi-hub is a great touch as the designers realise USB ports are at a premium, and you now don’t have to compromise when using this drive.

Title: Blu-Ray, DVD performance fine; USB hub performance not bad as long as you’re using the Type A plug
Review: The video goes into much more detail, including A full overview and some speed testing of the various ports on the back.However, in a nutshell:Things I liked:+ Most importantly, Blu-Ray and DVD playback is absolutely fine.+ Really nicely designed, with everything in one very small 15 by 15 centimetre package.+ Handy to have a USB hub and card reader included as well.+ USB3 performance when plugged in using the USB3 type A cable was fine.Things I didn’t like:- USB3 performance when plugged in using the attached USBC cable was only USB2 speeds.- Card reader performance was also very slow.- Couldn’t really work out the purpose of the USB seaport on the back of the DVD drive because it didn’t seem to charge anything, it didn’t seem to supply power to the laptop and you couldn’t use it for data either.Do I recommend it?Yes. as external Blu Ray drives go, This is a pretty good one. It’s really handy to have the hub included as well as the card reader, particularly if you need those things on the go, but you don’t need a lot of performance from them.

Review: Ich muss zugen, es hat etwas gedauert, bis mein Laptop diesen Brenner erkannt hat, aber letzten Endes hat es nur daran gelegen, weil ich andere Anschlusskabel verwendet habe. Ich wollte schon alles genervt zurück schicken, als ich dann doch die original mitgelieferten Kabel genutzt habe – und siehe da – alles funktioniert bestens!!!
