Is this the right roller for me?
In a nutshell
Mini rollers are widely used by the trade in preference to brushes as they enable faster, more efficient coverage with no brush marks. Mohair rollers are the choice of professional decorators for applying paint or varnish to wide, flat areas of wood and metal such as panels. The pile is cut to 5mm to apply the optimum film thickness.
Useful to know
Ideal for both water- and solvent/oil-based paints, varnishes and stains.Lint-free so it can be used straight from the packaging without pre-washing.For more product information see the bottom section.

Applying Gloss & Satin paints by mini roller
ProDec has a choice of trade quality mini roller fabrics to help you achieve a high quality finish with gloss and satin paints. Use this guide to help you make the right choice.
Foam
Trade grade high density foam with small cells designed to avoid any air pockets, eliminating bubbles in the paint that could otherwise spoil the finish. The foam absorbs paint, releasing it gradually through each roll and giving even surface coverage for less working out and improved efficiency.
Mohair
High quality, solvent-resistant woven synthetic fabric that is more durable than foam. The pile is cut to 5mm, ensuring the optimum film thickness is applied, giving excellent coverage without the risk of the paint film skinning.
Short pile microfibre
The softest fabric of all, giving a very light touch and less roller texture in the paint film. Microfibre absorbs the paint inside the fibres, instead of it just sitting between them, meaning that it both loads more smoothly and releases the paint more evenly throughout the stroke, requiring less working out and increasing your painting efficiency. Ensure you select the 6mm short pile, not the 12mm medium pile version.
Flocked foam
Very short flock fibres which are electrostatically coated onto a high density foam body, giving a very short pile roller that leaves no texture in the paint film. Flock gives the ultimate mirror-smooth finish – ideal for high gloss paints.
More information on this product
At just 2″ wide, these micro rollers are ideal for effectively painting awkward surfaces such as spindles, railings, panel radiators, panel doors, as well as narrow areas such as cabinets and shallow skirting boards. Natural angora fabric was originally used for applying various types of paint and this trade quality paint roller refines the original to perfection using high quality, solvent-resistant synthetic mohair which is ideal for water- and solvent/oil-based gloss and satin for wood and metal, as well as low viscosity woodstains on smooth planed timber.
The fabric is machine woven, giving the fibres a double anchor with excellent durability and washing out well after use, enabling the roller to be reused time after time. It is also lint-free, enabling you to use it straight from the packaging without pre-washing and not having to worry about any fabric shedding as you paint that would slow you down.
The 5mm short pile ensures the optimum film thickness is applied which is critical for gloss and satin: too thick and you risk the paint skinning if the surfaces dries before the rest of the film or sagging and ruining the sheen; too thin and the film won’t cover sufficiently and may have low mechanical strength, leading to poor durability and a short lifetime due to cracking or flaking.
These micro rollers are just 2″ wide, making them ideal for awkward surfaces such as spindles, railings, panel radiators, panel doors, as well as narrow areas such as cabinets and shallow skirting boards
Pack of 10 trade quality synthetic mohair mini roller for lint-free application – requires a 2″ micro frame (not included)
Superb finish with water- and solvent/oil-based gloss and satin paints, as well as being suitable for varnishes and low viscosity woodstains
Applies paint quicker than a brush for fast, efficient coverage and no brush marks
5mm short pile applies the optimum film thickness
