Review: This is a really clever product. I’ve never seen anything like it. I keep it on my sewing table with a doll/craft iron to do quick seam ironing and to iron handmade doll clothes. Yes, you need a trivet or something to put a hot iron on, you can’t just lay it down on the tabletop because that will destroy it. That’s really common sense.

Review: I wish I had known this existed years ago. I have previously used a tailor’s ham for pressing curved or hard to reach seams when constructing handmade items like bras, hats and even stuffed toys. The problem with a tailor’s ham is that it is hard to get it into the correct position and keep it there while you are pressing. This padded ironing board / form is amazing and such a timesaver! The rounded dome is well padded and is mounted on a circular base that is covered in a soft cotton jersey that helps prevent the item to be pressed from slipping around. The dome is then mounted onto another thick round wooden base using a thick piece of dowel about the size of an old fashioned broomstick. This design keeps the whole thing from moving around, and the raised design makes it easier to get into fiddly and awkward seams so you can press them. You can also use it to renew the shape of misshapen hats. I love it for helping to shape bras, swimwear and costumes, as I can shape them with steam to avoid press marks on satin, velvet, beaded and other special handling fabrics. I love this thing!

Review: This is for ironing and I could use it for that… But right now I’m using it as a hat stand. I have one hat that got a little misshapen from a too small hat stand, it lost it’s concave top, it’s a small top hat style in fine straw. Just on a whim, I put the hat upside down on the dome and 48 hours later, the hat is perfect. So I’m pretty happy using this in an unorthodox manner. It saved my favorite summer hat!I pretty much got it for hat display, but it’s nice to have the option of using it as an ironing ham if I need it.It’s fairly easy to put together, instructions right on the box. I’m always mystified as to where the washers go, but I believe it was covered in the instructions. I do like having the instructions even if it seems that it should be intuitive. The piece is sturdy once you have it together. I did put felt feet on the bottom so it wouldn’t mark up my dresser. If I didn’t already have a place for my hat pins, this would look cool covered in hat pins…Nice piece, well made, not terribly expensive – sewing things can get pricey! Multi-purpose depending on what you need.
