Title: Well made and effective.
Review: After a lifetime of fiddling with a knife I decided to treat myself to a really good stripper. German and nearly £80; it should have been good but it was flimsy and was no better than one which was bundled free with a collection of connectors etc. Amazon refunded within 48 hours.This one however is very solidly built and trimmed everything I have thrown at it.It took about two weeks to arrive and comes with some wonderfully quaint Chinese English instructions – which are not required.Well pleased with this tool, far better than the big brand one at well over twice the price.

Title: Why haven’t I ever seen this tool before?
Review: Stumbled on this tool by accident! And it is a tool I never knew I needed…for 50 years I have used pliers and penknives to do this stuff…I just completed a two and half hour rewiring job in just under an hour! I’m older these days and not as fast as I once was, but this is like having a younger electrician and a set of jump leads! This sturdy tool strips wire better than a 60 + years skilled electrician! I don’t ever stoop to expletives, but this is flipping brilliant. Delivered this very day, and now I couldn’t be without it…saves on finger wear and tear, save’s on frustration when your old hands are not as sturdy as they once were!!! 10 stars…

Title: Useful strippers but expensive
Review: These pliers are supplied in easy to open bubble packaging with the functions labelled on the back but no other instructions. These are multifunction cable strippers are made of steel with an insulated plastic handle although there is no VDE rating for working on live electrics.The handles are sprung for ease of use and have a locking catch for storage. The jaws are well aligned and shaped for multiple functions for cutting and stripping different sized cables without changing tools which is useful.They are sharp where needed and feel solid and well made although without the ultimate precision that you often get with premium tools. It is useful to have the different functions combined on a single tool even if dedicated tools may perform better.The stripping function works well after you have worked it out but they could really do with proper instructions rather than the tiny diagrams on the back of the packet.These are rather expensive compared with similar looking alternatives on Amazon but it is difficult to determine value with tools unless you have them side by side to compare the quality.

Title: Well Made – Generic
Review: As ever with these types of tools a quick search will bring up identical items with different names and different coloured plastic handles. That’s should always be your first step because the price can vary a shed load for an identikit tool.And of course that’s the case here. I had a quick shufti through the Amazon site and found the same tool under various guises for quite a range of prices with this version being perhaps at the higher end of the price range. Bear that in mind.Putting the price aside, the actual tool is excellent and if I think back 20 years ago working on ship’s before the Universal Chinesium Tool appeared, a similar quality branded tool would cost double this price. Ultimately, it’s a good tool.This style of wire stripper is my favourite as well as it’s simple and robust. On most smaller gauge wire this works well and certainly speeds up a job. The only thing I’ve noted – and not just with this wire stripper – is that weirdly on 4mm brown wire the plastic seems a tad slippier. Don’t know if the colouring changes the properties.The jaws are plenty hard enough to last a good long time and there is a distance setting plastic tang which no one will ever use…You can adjust the jaw tension easily and that’s quite useful if you are stripping very light gauge wire as it helps prevent pulling the actual wires off.Overall a decent tool – just have a good look at the prices.
