Review: Are you looking for a unique 65% keyboard that has fantastic RGB, a screen, wireless, types great and sounds good as well? Look no further than the RT65!Lets face it most 65% keyboard pretty much all look the same. Even if they have a knob rather than an extra key most all look the same. That is definitely not the case with the RT65. From it’s top LED light bar to the detachable screen to the joystick, this is not your average build.The keyboard comes with standard accessories, a nice cable and some extra switches if you need them. On the top right you have a storage compartment for the 2.4Ghz dongle but if you remove the cover you can replace that with an LED screen which information about the connectivity or a can display a custom gif using the Epomaker software.This 65% using a gasket mounting system for the PCB and plate which offers a very nice balance on the typing experience. There is definitely some give when typing but it’s not overly bouncy.The keycaps have a nice texture and are quite thick. The legends could be a little more clear in my opinion but they are as expected for this price point. Together with the Wisteria linear switches, which are some of my favorites, you get a nice smooth feel and sound with quite a deep bottom out sound, the space bar sounds exceptionally nice in my opinion.All of the stabilizers are plate mounted and well lubed from the factory giving no ping or wobble when typing on my review unit.While there is no adjustment for the typing angle I personally find it very comfortable. It’s pretty flat so if you like your keyboard at a steep angle this might not be the right choice for you but as is the keyboard is quite comfortable to type on for hours.The case is polycarbonite plastic and quite thick. That coupled with the caps, switches and included foam really produces a sound I think most of searching for today when considering a keyboard. It is not quite, you will hear yourself typing, which is exactly what I want but be warned if you are a heavy typist taking this to the office it’s going to be loud.The LEDs/Switches are south facing so you should have no interference issue if you want to swap the switches and use Cherry profile caps on the board.Last note, rather than a knob this keyboard has a joystick which is another of it’s unique features. It functions primarily as a knob would in regards to VOL but is once again something different that makes this board unique.For gamers these switches are a fast light linears and the keyboard is not too heaving nor large making it easy to move around your desk for more mouse space when gaming. It will work well and be comfortable for hours of gaming or working.As this is a tri-mode board it can be connected via the a USB C cable, 2.4Ghz or Bluetooth. All connections worked great for general use but I would suggest wired or 2.4Ghz for gaming. I will note that the connections are quite stable and showed up very quickly when pairing, especially on BT.For those MacOS lovers, YES, Epomaker included Mac specific modifier keys!If you are looking for a nice 65%, especially if you want something to stand out, give this RT65 your highest consideration. I think you will be quite pleased on many levels.

Review: So far I’m intrigued by the RT65 and a bit confused. I cannot pinpoint who the target consumer is for this keyboard but it has to be geared for gamers with the design. Although I’m sure it can be enjoyed by anyone that likes a lot of RGB, has a mini display screen AND a joystick that not only controls volume but can act like a mouse too. Add in the tri-mode connectivity with a 3000mAh battery, NKRO, hot swap PCB and gasket mounting for a comfortable typing feel and you get a keyboard that has a lot of features packed into it.I know it feels great to type on these flamingo switches, they are quiet but not silent and the keycaps are double shot PBT and in my opinion sound good in conjunction with the switches. The case is all plastic and the plate is I think polycarbonate and there is some flex here for certain. The foam in the case help with the sound and the keyboard does not sound like hollow and is actually pleasing to me.The RT65 can be used across many devices and that includes Win/Mac and Android so it’s easy to connect to many devices including your iOS and Android tablets, Xbox and Switch. The mini display is detachable so you are not stuck with it if you don’t want to use it. However I enjoy it and found it super easy to upload a picture with the software driver package and you can put gifs on as well. I think it is a cool feature to play around with and the screen can also help you monitor your keyboard settings like date/time, mode you are using and the status of the battery. Handy tool to have.The included accessories are the usual power cable and it is super thick but rubber cased, extra switches, a few different keycaps and the combo tool for pulling keycaps and switches. The manual is laid out nicely and is easy to read and follow along with. Epomaker always does their Quick Start Guide and User Manuals well and I wish all brands would do the same. Cannot expect someone to transition to a smaller keyboard and hope they can figure it out if they’ve never used one before.As far as software you definitely need to watch the Epomaker videos to help out with some of the features and how to make changes to the key mapping and understanding the layers and recording macros. I do believe they could definitely improve the software but it does work and I had no issues running it on Win 11. It just is not that simple to understand especially to a new user to compact keyboards, why I say it is a good idea to watch their videos and they are good about releasing them for all their keyboards.What I do not like is just the style of the board. I am not and never have been a fan of the retro looking keyboards and I think they should release more options besides beige and pink. Some of you may love the look but it just is not for me. However I like using it for the typing feel and sound profile of it and that little display. The stabilizers are not awful but the spacebar needs work and that’s kind of typical these days for budget boards. The other stabs sound really good though so if I only had to tune one stab I’d consider that a win.So who is this RT65 for? I really don’t know but for it’s price it is a good value if you are into 65% keyboards. It does take some of it’s features from the RT80 which is a popular choice lately, it just has a few less keys and only one display screen. So I can say honestly that it is a good enough budget board with a learning curve and that is due to their proprietary software. I did knock off a star because of the software as I would rather see QMK/VIA offered instead and then you’d only have to run the screen tool software to make other changes.

Review: This keyboard just rocks. Itâ€™s the epitome of what Iâ€™d consider a awesome, functional, and â€˜clickyâ€™ keyboard. If you love mechanical keys, then this is absolutely the one thatâ€™ll work for you. I primarily use this in bed and sometimes going as far as 15 feet from my computer, on the other side of the room, to get closer to my TV; the strength of the dongle is perfect for my needs and the dongle itself is actually labeled!! Most of all my other electronics overlook the necessity of appropriately labeled equipment, causing me to misplace them, which is aggravating.The LEDs are all perfectly synced without issue, the miniscreen shows time and battery, and there are modes to switch from. Although all these functions are great, the joystick manipulates the volume controller for me and I was hoping for it to function the pointer. 5/5

Review: This keyboard is super smooth and has a fast response time. The keys feel solid and comfortable and both the key switches and keycaps are easy to replace. It even includes a few of each to modify or replace one that fails. It is easy to charge via its USB type C port and holds the charge for a long time. The USB port doubles for use as a wired keyboard and the cable is included.The Bluetooth mode is easy to pair and it also includes a 2.4 dongle for use as 2.4 wireless. Works good.The illumination options are just too many to mention, you can control the backlighting of the keys separately from the top light bar and it is all RGB. For myself, I just want an low red backlight which lets me see the keys in the dark, and it does that very well.In addition to its many features, the little joystick on the corner can stand in as a mouse of sorts, resulting in very little real estate taken up on your desk. Helpful if you have a messy desk like mine. Unfortunately I was not able to test this with my PC (see mention about software at the bottom).As for the little display dongle included, I have mixed feelings on it, It is handy to see at a glance which mode it is in (Win/Mac/Android), which comms mode (BT, 2.4, Wired) and the battery level. But all this is not essential or is provided via a keyboard combination. Nice, but not essential. The problem with the little display is that it just hangs in the air from its USB type C port, and YOU WILL knock it with your hand at some point. If you are lucky it won’t break the display or the USB port. No good.I was not able to test the EPOmaker software used for customizing the little display as it is only available for Windows and Mac (I use Linux) so I couldn’t set the time or have a GIF image on it.Setting aside the gimmicky display, a very good and capable keyboard. Love it.

Review: I got this for a gaming rig I am putting together piece by piece. Tested on current system and everything works it should. The mini display is cool and the RGB is not super bright which is what I prefer as I enjoy how it looks against the grey of the keyboard. Definitely has a 70’s vibe lol. The programmable software seems to work so far with windows 11. Overall will make my gamer buds jealous once all is set up!
