Title: Very solid materials, feels very high quality, great image, completely plug-n-play, works with open-source camera PC software
Review: I was doubtful about buying this camera but it has a great quality picture, a very sturdy construction material. It plugs and plays into windows 10 and works out of the box with open source camera software such as iSpy. The seller says it’s focused to 3 meters but I pointed it at the other side of the street (which is over 10 meters away) and it films perfectly with the street lamps. Inside, as soon as you turn the lights off, you hear a little clicking noise, which is the IR LEDS activating and you know these are on because they have a very faint red light (faint enough that it won’t bother you even in complete darkness (much more faint than any alarm clock’s display). The IR LEDs are powerful enough that the camera sees perfectly in a 5 meter (probably more) room in complete darkness. And it almost instantly adjusts brightness level as you change the lighting in the room or as you place an object closer or farther from the LEDs. The 720p definition can really be seen in the quality of the picture. The image quality in the video is scaled down (the real image quality is crisp, good-quality 720p and the color is better (near perfect) when you keep the camera stable and are not flicking it around like I was in this video). Also the camera doesn’t have an incorporated microphone. I used my own microphone for this recording. The program I used for this recording is iSpy. To rotate the camera globe you will need to unscrew the thin circular back plate (the last thin layer on the bottom). It takes a little effort but it’s doable using only your hands. Overall, I am very positively surprised and happy with the product. It also arrived much earlier than predicted (predicted by Friday in my country but arrived on Wednesday). At first I was wanting to go with one of those ethernet/WiFi cameras but when you look at them even in the presentation pictures, they don’t appear to have as much build quality (this may just be my impression but they appear to be more flimsy products as they are made out of plastic and this one is heavy duty metal and glass) but I read that many of those have issues using open source software.I still haven’t got around to trying to rotating the globe but I have read from other reviews that there is a trick to that. I’ll update if I find out anything else new.

Title: Great quality and ease of use for the money!
Review: Bought to keep an eye over my motorcycles on the street after my girlfriends was stolen. Installing it onto and exterior wall was easy, screws and rawl plugs provided are fairly small, but will hold the camera there quite happily, it’s not heavy and it’s certainly not going to get blown off. I’ve set up iSpy, a free CCTV monitoring and recording program and am using it on my main PC at the moment until I can get a cheap dedicated system, with a subscription (about £6 p/m) I can view the camera from my smart phone or any PC remotely, which is fantastic piece of mind. It also means I can check the camera from the comfort of my bed when I hear weird noises in the night. The quality is good, not fantastic, but good, unfortunately I can’t make out registration plates in the targeted area, but it still serves a purpose. The night vision feature seems to work very well, it has a good amount of IR leds that glow dimly when active, the camera will automatically switch between day/night mode, you’ll hear a feint click when it switches, it’s not going to bother you if you have the camera indoors, neither will the lights. The camera came with a generous 5m of cable, which I’ve extended with 2x 10m active USB repeater cables, also from Amazon, allowing me to pull the cables through the attic, so no cables hanging around or cable clipped all the way around the house. It has a really good degree of adjustment, all you need to do is unscrew the bottom ring and you can point the camera in any direction and adjust the shield as well. All in all, it seems to be a really well thought out product, it works right out of the box with an automatic Windows 10 driver install.

Title: Good camera let down by this one defect
Review: A good solid camera. I like the way it is infinitely adjustable for tilt and rotation. Some slight fisheye distortion is noticeable (see images). Works very well in good daylight giving good colour image. In low light the grey scale images are also good. However, in very low light, when the IR LEDs are activated, the image is spoiled by lines of horizontal noise. (see images). I have 7 of these in use with Raspberry Pi (various models) and they all show this noise to a greater or lesser extent.

Title: Pretty good all-rounder
Review: I wanted something to see what sort of wildlife sneaks about the garden in the early hours and this looked like it might do the job. So far I’ve captured at least two foxes and a family of badgers by night and all manner of squirrels and birds by day so it’s earning its keep.I’ve connected it to a Raspberry Pi 4 running OpenSUSE Leap as the OS and Motion as the motion detection software and it all works really well. It’s only 720p resolution so the picture is merely OK not fantastic but you’re only paying 40 quid or so.One gripe is that the range of the infrared LEDs isn’t brilliant so I can’t see more than a few metres. More LEDs would have made the thing bigger and more expensive, however. The camera comes with a nice long bit of USB cable, too, which is handy.I’ve seen some complaints that it doesn’t work with a Raspberry Pi. I can categorically say it does. I can only imagine that, as the camera draws all its power from the Pi’s USB port, anyone having problems should ensure they have an adequate power supply and check what else is using USB power.I’m probably going to buy another one of these so I can see more of what’s going on when the neighbourhood is asleep…

Title: An utterly appalling waste of money!
Review: This camera is advertised as being suitable for outdoor use, The reality is that IT QUITE SIMPLY IS NOT!Outdoors in normal daylight, the camera ‘whites out’ as it cannot handle normal daylight brightness. Indoors it seems to be ok, but that is not what it was purchased for.If I hadn’t already thrown the box out, I would be returning it to Amazon. Just another example of the appallingly low quality garbage being blatantly mis-advertised on Amazon
